At first, it just looks like someone pulling a wheeled cooler down the sidewalk on a hot summer day, the kind of thing you wouldn't think twice about.

Then you notice a dog sitting comfortably inside, looking around as the cooler rolls along.

It wasn't done for attention.

The pavement was simply too hot for bare paws.

In places like Arizona, asphalt can become far hotter than the air itself, reaching temperatures that can burn a dog's paw pads in seconds during extreme heat.

Instead of risking the walk, the owner found a simple solution with what he already had.

The video made plenty of people smile, but it also reminded others how easy it is to overlook what the ground feels like when we're wearing shoes.

Sometimes a small change is all it takes to keep a pet safe.
