🎃🐾 Halloween costumes can be fun for us, but scary for our pets! Can you tell if your furry friend is comfortable in a costume? 👀

If your pet isn’t a fan of elaborate costumes, try cute bandanas, themed collars, or simple coat-like costumes.

Costume safety tips:
• Shouldn’t limit mobility, sight, or hearing.
• Avoid pieces that can be chewed off and swallowed.
• Watch your pet’s body language – pacing, moving slowly, shaking, hunching, and ear and tail position can all signal your pet is uncomfortable.

Getting your pet ready:
• Start practicing now, pairing the costume with high value treats.
• Introduce noisy closures (like velcro) separately.
• Gradually increase the time they wear it each day.

If your pet repeatedly refuses to participate, that's ok!!! They might just prefer going costume-free! 🙃

It's another What Did I Eat Wednesday!

Meet Daisy. This sweet girl has been having a bit of a ruff streak lately when it comes to eating things she shouldn't. First, it was gum containing xylitol, which is very dangerous for dogs. In fact, we were in the process of putting together a social media post about THAT incident when Daisy decided to up the ante with this mystery item. 😳

We're not sure what made this look appetizing, but it couldn't have felt too good going down!

Thankfully, Daisy was brought to us quickly. We were able to induce vomiting and recover the contraband before it could cause serious problems. She went home with a bland diet and medication to help soothe and protect her tummy.

🐾 October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month! 🐾

Meet another adopted patient, Taco! This goofy guy is a hoot but sometimes gets a bit nervous at the vet so we did this appointment outside to reduce his stress. Look at those perfect little dirt paw prints he left during an excited greeting! 🤗

We know many of our clients have adopted shelter dogs of their own, and we'd love to celebrate them this month! If your adopted dog has an appointment with us in October, let our team know you'd like them featured on our social media Shelter Dog Spotlight and we’ll snap a pic! 📸

Meet Zoe! This sweet girl was recently adopted after a two-week foster period. We can see why she was a foster fail. She's a little shy, but she passed her new patient exam with flying colors! ❤️
