Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Marcela! 💙
For the past two years, Marcela Mandle, has been bringing comfort and compassion to animals as a Surgery Recovery Assistant at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League.
Every surgery day begins the same way.
"I greet each patient by name, say good morning, and spend a few quiet moments talking to them. I tell them that everything is going to be okay, that they are deeply loved, and that in just a few hours they'll be back home, resting comfortably in their own bed with the people who care about them."
After surgery, Marcela helps ensure each animal has a clean, safe, and comfortable space to recover.
"Being able to comfort them during such a vulnerable moment is incredibly meaningful to me. Seeing them relax and knowing I've helped make their experience a little less scary is one of the greatest rewards of volunteering."
When asked what inspires her to volunteer, Marcela shared:
"There is no personal gain in what I do—my reward is simply knowing that I have made a small difference in the life of an animal. The joy and fulfillment I feel when I can offer comfort, care, and compassion to those who cannot speak for themselves is truly priceless."
Thank you, Marcela, for the kindness, comfort, and love you give to every animal you meet. Volunteers like you make our mission possible.
