🚨‼️ BEING EUTHANIZED 11/19 ‼️🚨😭

Beowoof was found roaming the streets of West County as a stray. Medical: Our vet team noted the following: Very, very sweet gentle dog. thin. Heartworm positive. Has thickened, crusty plaque areas around both eyes and on bottom of tail/anus. These may be due to having been kept in cage for long peroids of time or possible allergies. Has pressure point calluses and a few warts, Rest is WNL. He is currently receiving treatment for skin issues and allergic dermatitis. Unfortunately, he tested heartworm positive. Despite his medical needs,
he remains a very sweet and gentle boy. Volunteer Notes: Beowoof is easy to walk. In the yard, he was delightful and playful, and able to pet him all over— including his front paws.

Request to Rescues: Beowoof is a wonderful, gentle boy who has clearly been through a lot. He's thin and heartworm positive, with thickened, crusty skin around both eyes and the base of his tail. These conditions may be related to
prolonged confinement or allergies. He also has pressure point calluses and a few warts. With the holidays approaching, Beowoof deserves a warm, loving home to call his own, a place where he can finally feel safe, cozy, and cherished after roaming the streets. Beowoof is a sweet boy who wants the gift of love and comfort he's been waiting for all year.

Lots of Bully breeds now stand a chance of being adopted for the Holidays

Wow. We… we actually did it. 💜

We can’t even believe this. This is EVERYTHING.

After 27 long years, Prince George’s County has officially lifted the breed ban. The County Council passed CB-097, a historic and comprehensive overhaul of the animal control code - championed by Chair Edward Burroughs III and shaped by years of collaboration between residents, advocates, and community leaders.

As the Prince George’s Pet Unity Project, we are deeply proud to have led this effort. For years, we’ve listened to residents, uplifted community stories, partnered with volunteers and local leaders, and pushed for fair, effective, evidence-based laws that keep families together and make our neighborhoods safer.

CB-097 strengthens leash laws, increases accountability for dangerous dogs, updates outdated definitions, improves public safety, and launches a pilot foster/adoption program for the dogs who were once banned. It is a modern, compassionate, community-centered path forward.

To Chair Burroughs and the County Council members who believed in safe, fair, effective policy - thank you.

To our volunteers, supporters, and every resident who showed up, spoke up, or stood with us - this victory is ours.

Today, Prince George’s County made history.

Now, we celebrate. Tomorrow… back to work. (Okay, maybe a few days of celebration)
And together, we’ll keep building a safer, fairer, more unified community for people and their pets

🚨‼️BEING EUTHANIZED ON 11/08‼️RESCUE ONLY🚨 NO EXTENSIONS!, RESCUE ONLY! HE KNOWS HE IS DYING, HAS SHUT DOWN AND WHIMPERS WHILE LOOKING AT ANYONE WALKING BY. 😭 Left to starve to death, abandoned at a park. Has some scars from being cut and biten, ribs showing. Yet he is the sweetest dog who only wants to be held. As soon as he was shown food he desperately ate while wagging his tail. 😭😭😭

Seems his owner who threw him away couldn't sleep at night so he called ACO saying this starved dog needed help. Buttercup is a 10-year-old 10 lbs. Shih Tzu poodle mix (Shi-Poo). She is partially blind, but otherwise very healthy.
She was found tied to a fence at a dog park one morning in September. She has adjusted very well to life with her foster family. Buttercup is a complete and total lap dog. If you're looking for a dog that will stay on your lap and enjoy spending time with you, this is the dog for you.

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month, making this a great time to celebrate the joy and love an older cat can bring to your life.

While older cats can be just as cute and cuddly as younger cats and kittens they often spend far longer at the shelter before getting adopted. But they have so much going for them and can make an amazing addition to your family!

Take their temperament: Older cats have learned the ropes of life and have had time to let their purrsonalities blossom. And unlike kittens and younger cats, older cats are often quite content with loafing around the house, bringing zen-like energy that makes you want to rest and relax with them and just chill out!

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month, and we're celebrating by offering 50% off adoption fees for animals ages 7 or older, like our Pet of the Week Cisco.

Cisco is a 10 year old Chihuahua mix with years of experience accompanying his favorite person on their daily adventures. This older gent is an explorer at heart - he loves car rides and walks - and will never leave your side once you've earned his trust.

Cisco takes his time warming up to new people, but he rewards your patience with lots of snuggles! He isn't the biggest fan of children under 12, larger dogs, or cats. He would do well as an only dog or with another dog of similar size - after a meet and greet at the shelter.

Cisco thanks Purina for providing delicious food for all felines and canines at the shelter as they wait for their forever homes.

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month!
Aldi is a gentle old soul who loves a good cuddle and always has a great welcome for you! He is extremely well trained and is very good about snoozing on his bed as opposed to on furniture. He enjoys short gentle paced walks and is very obedient on a leash. He is a pleasure to have around and enjoys human company, especially rubs and kisses if they are on offer!
Aldi is approx. 10 years old and would love to spend the rest of his life in a loving home.
