❤️ Buddy Update: A Fighter Through and Through ❤️

Buddy continues to show us just how strong he is. After a lifetime of horrific neglect, he knows now that people are fighting for him — and he is not giving up.

Over the last 24 hours, Buddy has remained stable, which is something we are incredibly grateful for. He is currently breathing well on his own and does not require oxygen. If there was a blood clot contributing to his crisis, it now appears to have resolved, which is encouraging news.

Buddy is also eating very well — truly ravenous, which can be due to a number of factors. He is severely malnourished and has significant muscle atrophy from years of neglect and starvation, so his body is trying desperately to rebuild and heal.

The veterinary team is cautiously optimistic with this update, while remaining realistic. Tomorrow, Buddy is scheduled for an echocardiogram, which will give us critical information about the extent of his heart damage and help guide the next steps in his care.

This is a collaborative effort with Have a Heart Rescue, and Elizabeth was able to visit Buddy this morning, which meant so much to him and to all of us.

We also want to extend a huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to Maureen from Bernard's Beagle Rescue for her incredibly generous donation, which has covered Buddy’s initial hospital bill thus far. This kind of compassion is exactly what gives dogs like Buddy a fighting chance.❤️

Buddy still has a lot to fight through, but he is showing us — moment by moment — that he wants to live!!

Buddy is also one of many serious medical cases currently in our care. We cannot continue this life-saving work without your support. Every contribution helps us continue fighting for dogs like Buddy.

🚨 JUDITH IS STILL WAITING — AND SHE NEEDS A HOME NOW 🚨
📍 Currently in boarding in Alabama | Transport available to approved homes in many states

We truly believed Judith would be in a home for the holidays. We pulled her from the shelter because someone said yes — and then it fell through. We couldn’t put her back, so she is safe in boarding… but this was never meant to be where she landed.

Judith urgently needs a foster or adopter to step up.

She is the kind of dog rescues pray for:
• About 5 years old, 52 pounds
• Incredibly sweet, calm, and easy
• Loves other dogs
• Tested well with cats
• Gentle, steady, and affectionate

She isn’t asking for much — just a place to belong. A couch, a bed, a human. After everything she’s been through, Judith is still nothing but love.

She has already started her heartworm protocol, and Road to Home will continue to help with her treatment once she’s placed — but we cannot keep her in boarding indefinitely without a plan.

We thought she’d be home by now.
Please help us make that true.

📩 Apply to foster or adopt: www.rthrs.com

Please share — Judith is counting on it.

🚨 URGENT: Buddy Needs a Miracle! 🚨

Buddy was having a good day yesterday, but his condition suddenly took a turn for the worse. He was rushed to the closest veterinary emergency hospital in Wilson, NC, and is now hospitalized, fighting for his life.

After a lifetime of horrific neglect, starvation, and long-untreated heartworm, Buddy is facing congestive heart failure and a potential blood clot. He is receiving oxygen therapy and medications including Sildenafil and Lasix, along with additional supportive care, but his road to recovery will be long, critical, and uncertain.

This is a collaborative effort with Have a Heart Rescue in NC, and Buddy is receiving all the care we can provide together. So far, his veterinary care has already exceeded $4,400, and we need your help to continue giving him the life-saving treatment he deserves.

Buddy is a fighter. Every breath he takes is a victory. He has already survived the unimaginable, and now he needs all of us to fight with him.

💔 We cannot do this alone.
Your donations and shares directly provide life-saving care for Buddy and other dogs in crisis. Please help him today:

🚨💔 A Hail Mary for Sweet Pea — She Needs a Safe Place by January 1st 💔🚨

📍 Macedonia, NY | 🚐 Transport available to nearby states

Sweet Pea is running out of time.
By January 1st, this beautiful girl must have a foster or adopter—or she faces being surrendered back to a shelter. After everything she’s already endured, that simply cannot be her story.

Sweet Pea was pulled from the Alabama shelter we work with after being owner-surrendered and brought north to New York in search of a better life. She spent time in a foster home, but when that placement ended, she remained with the rescue.

Now, heartbreakingly, that rescue is closing its doors—a reality far too many rescues are facing. The rescue owner is also battling a serious medical crisis, yet she has refused to abandon the dogs still in her care. When our rescue affiliate reached out, we stepped in—because teamwork saves lives.
🐾 Who is Sweet Pea?
🟣 Almost 3½ years old
🟣 Around 40 lbs
🟣 Stunning eyes and the cutest ears
🟣 Loves people and thrives on human connection
🟣 Dog selective and actively working on it—best as an only dog right now so she can soak up all the love
🟣 A loyal, soulful companion waiting for her person

Sweet Pea isn’t just a dog in need—she’s a heart waiting for a home. She’s already waited too long, and now she needs someone to step up and say “I choose you.” 🙏
📩 Can you be her miracle?
Please reach out now and complete a foster or adoption application at:

⏳ Time is critical. Please don’t scroll past Sweet Pea. Her future depends on someone choosing her before it’s too late. 💔

🐾🤎 Meet Hershey — A Sweet Mama Ready for Her Forever Home 🤎🐾

📍 Located in South Carolina — transport available to many states

Hershey’s story is sadly all too common in the South. She belonged to someone who simply didn’t have the means to properly care for her. When her owner realized Hershey was pregnant and didn’t know what to do, they reached out to one of our incredible foster moms, Jerrie for help. Without hesitation, she said yes. ❤️

Hershey was taken in, cared for, and loved before and after giving birth. She delivered three beautiful baby girls, all of whom are happy and healthy thanks to her foster’s dedication.

When Hershey first arrived, she was underweight, missing patches of hair, and of course not spayed. Today, she looks like a completely different dog — her coat has grown back beautifully, she’s gained healthy weight, and she is in the process of being spayed and will be spayed prior to adoption.

Our foster reached out to Road to Home Rescue to help this gentle soul find the forever home she so deserves — and of course, we said yes.

🐶 About Hershey:
✨ Approximately 6 years old
✨ 60 lbs
✨ Purebred Chocolate Lab
✨ Adores children 🧒❤️
✨ Dog-friendly
✨ Calm, gentle, and laid back
✨ Would make an incredible companion or family dog

Hershey has given so much love in her life — now it’s her turn to receive it. She’s sweet, affectionate, and ready to finally be someone’s cherished family member.

📩 If you’d like to open your heart and home to Hershey, please complete an application at www.rthrs.com

💙 $5 FRIDAY — From Life on a Chain to Pure Joy 💙

Chopper’s foster mom captured this beautiful moment — pure joy on his back. 🐾
It’s hard to believe this is the same boy who once lived his life chained outside.

Every day, Chopper relaxes a little more. He’s gaining confidence going out into the yard, learning that he’s safe, loved, and that this home is truly his — even if just for now.

After the holidays, Chopper will be established with his local vet and will continue his heartworm treatment, an important next step in his journey.

✨ This $5 Friday, we’re asking you to be part of Chopper’s healing.
Just $5 helps cover ongoing medical care and allows us to keep saying yes to seniors who desperately need a chance.

🚨💔 FLOWER IS STILL WAITING — AND TIME IS RUNNING OUT 💔🚨

Location - Alabama, 🚐 Transport available to approved homes in many states

📩 Apply: www.rthrs.com

For more than 4 months, Flower has been sitting in an overwhelmed Alabama shelter — watching days turn into weeks, and weeks into months… still hoping someone will notice her.

Flower is about 6 years old, 45 lbs, heartworm positive (which we will assist with), dog-friendly, and an absolute sweetheart. She doesn’t ask for much — just safety, warmth, and someone who won’t leave her behind again.

This shelter is drowning. Dogs are coming in faster than they can be helped, and dogs like Flower — older, gentle, and quiet — are the ones who wait the longest.

We post dogs from this shelter every single day, desperately trying to save the most urgent. Some make it out… but far too many don’t.

Road to Home Rescue Support cannot help Flower unless a foster or adopter steps up.

Please don’t scroll past her.
She survived the ditch — please help her make it out of the shelter too. 💔

✨ A HOLIDAY MIRACLE FOR APOLLO ✨

Because of your shares and unwavering support, Apollo is officially safe with Road to Home Rescue Support. After weeks of networking and watching this sweet, deaf boy slowly break down in an overcrowded shelter, a wonderful foster stepped up — and everything changed.

Apollo is currently safe at The Pet Resort, where he will stay while we finalize transport to his foster home. If all goes as planned, he will be arriving before Christmas and during Hanukkah — a true season-of-hope miracle for a dog who has waited far too long.

Apollo will be heading to the vet today for a full workup and will then get established with his foster family’s local veterinarian. He has already started his heartworm protocol, and now he finally gets the consistency, calm, and care he so deeply deserves.

Because of your support, senior Anita, Chopper, and now Apollo are out of the shelter and safe. But Missy, Flower, Daisy Mae, and so many others are still urgently waiting — sitting in kennels where they barely get time outside, hoping someone sees them before it’s too late.

If you’d like to make a donation toward Apollo’s care and help us continue saving dogs like him, it truly makes a difference.

💙 Zelle: [email protected]

Please follow Apollo’s journey here as we share updates — and as we keep fighting for the ones still waiting.

Hope, light, and second chances live here.

Alum Update: Look at Dixie Now! 💖

Two years later, our beautiful senior Dixie is thriving—and we swear she might have a little bit of Benjamin Buttons in her! 😄

Today, Dixie is walking 1.5–2 miles around the neighborhood, loving the water, and snuggling with her older doggie sister. Dixie even has two doggie boyfriends she has playdates with! 🐾 Smart, affectionate, and a true Velcro dog, Dixie is the perfect companion for an active senior.

Dixie came to Road to Home Rescue after losing her home and facing the shelter. At the time, she had surgery to remove mammary tumors and thanks to her foster mom’s love and care, she found her forever home.

Her journey is a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do—helping seniors in need live their best lives. Follow along for more updates on Dixie and our other amazing rescues!

💔🌼 DAISY MAE — QUIETLY WAITING, STILL UNCHOSEN 🌼💔

🚐 Location Alabama - Transport available to approved homes in many states

💌 Apply to foster or adopt Daisy Mae: www.rthrs.com

Not a single inquiry.
Not one person asking about her.

In an Alabama shelter bursting at the seams with 158+ dogs, Daisy Mae is becoming invisible — another gentle soul lost in the noise, waiting patiently while the days pass her by.

Her story didn’t start kindly.
Daisy Mae and another dog were dumped from a truck and left behind like they didn’t matter. She was injured, scared, and in pain — her paw badly hurt. 💔 And yet, somehow, she never lost her softness.

Even now, she greets people with quiet trust, as if she still believes someone will do right by her.

At 7 years old and 52 lbs, Daisy Mae is the definition of calm comfort. She’s the kind of dog who turns a house into a home — happy to nap nearby, follow a gentle routine, and simply exist peacefully with her people. 🕯️📖

💛 Daisy Mae would thrive with:
• Retirees or someone who works from home
• A calm, predictable environment
• Another low-energy dog friend
• Humans who value quiet companionship

She is heartworm negative, fully vetted, and more than ready for a second chance.

Daisy Mae isn’t asking for excitement or adventure — just safety, kindness, and the promise that she won’t be discarded again.

With shelters overflowing, dogs like Daisy Mae — older, gentle, quiet — are the first to be overlooked. Her need is urgent. Her moment is now.

Please share Daisy Mae.
She survived abandonment. She survived pain.
Now she deserves what every dog does — to belong. ❤️
