Where Are They Now Wednesday brings you another PUP-date.
The artist, formerly known as Kristoffer, now goes by Ripple, or Rip.
He was found late last year in a city called Samar, outside of Dnipro, as a tiny little poof-ball of a puppy. He's now living his best life in the mountains of upstate New York!

June 2023 was our first campaign with Tiernothilfe Ukraine e.V. and Доступна Стерилізація. I was doing surgery on ironing boards. The thank you gifts from the locals were odd. We slept on wood pallets in an abandoned pre-school. One clinic didn't have running water. The next town didn't have electricity. There was a really sharp learning curve doing surgery under these conditions.
Now this is just another campaign. No water, no electricity, gun fire, drones, sleeping on travel cots, eating all the delicious food the locals have to offer. It is odd how this becomes second nature. But when you find amazing people to work with, everything becomes easier.

Another update! Trying to get back to the routine. On this most recent campaign, we worked for 7 full days and were able to help 442 cats! Our team consists of 2-3 veterinarians performing surgery, so each surgeon usually performs over 40 procedures a day. The very skilled Natascha, from Доступна Стерилізація is lightning fast and often does 60 or more a day. We are so lucky to have found such a dedicated team and we cannot continue our work without your support.

Gürkchen has cleared customs in NY!
She has had a long and exhausting trip and is sleeping next to me in the car right now.
It was pretty funny to see her brought out by a forklift.

Gürkchen's flight to NY has departed! She was picked up at 6am and hung out at the dog lounge at the airport before her flight. She is so fancy.
We'll update again in 7-10 hours when we're in NY, and she had cleared customs!

The numbers are in. 637 dogs and cats sterilized in 7 working days with Доступна Стерилізація and Tiernothilfe Ukraine e.V.
Many more received annual vaccines and specialized surgeries.
We were able to relocate animals from the frontlines to shelters, to be adopted in Ukraine, Germany, and the USA in the future.
5 animals were moved out of Ukraine this trip to be adopted abroad.
And while we have a million people to thank for making these campaigns come together, the most vital part of it is you. We can not do this without the donations of private citizens looking to help and make a difference.

Tag 7. unserer Mission / Druzhkivka

Am letzten Tag unserer Mission im Osten der Ukraine, nach dem alle Tiere zurück gebracht und alles zusammengepackt war, war es Zeit ein Fazit zu ziehen.

Dank des tollen Einsatz aller Beteiligten, konnten in Druzhkivka insgesamt 413 Tiere kastriert werden.
Neben den Kastrationen wurden auch wieder viele andere wichtigen Operationen durch geführt. Impfungen waren auch ein wichtiger Teil der Arbeit, neben der wichtigen Tollwut Impfung wurden auch viele Welpen und Kätzchen geimpft um ihre Überlebenschancen zu erhöhen.

Ein riesiges Dankeschön geht an die lokalen Tierschützerinnen von ОО "Дружковка - территория добра" ihr Einsatz für die Tiere dort ist unglaublich. Sie kennen beinahe jeden Hund auf der Straße.
Die Tiere in Druzhkivka können froh sein, das es solche tollen Menschen gibt.

After 35 hours of driving, we have arrived in (correct) Frankfurt with 4 dogs in tow!
Knopa and Dina are going on to another shelter nearby until homes are found, tomorrow or Monday.
Жук/Zhuk is going for a walk with his new family in the morning.
And Gürkchen/Pickles is headed to the USA on Wednesday!

Just to give everyone an idea of where the team is working. They are about 10km from the frontlines, tirelessly working to help as many animals as they can.
We were fortunate this time to have a building with windows to use as the clinic! Happy Easter to us!
