Shelters across the country are facing overcrowding as more pets are being surrendered due to financial hardships. At the Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA), we believe that no family should ever have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their beloved pets. Our Pet Pantry Program is a lifeline for hundreds of animals and their families, providing essential food assistance four times a month. Each month, we spend thousands of dollars on pet food to ensure local families can keep their pets well-fed and cared for. This vital service ensures that no pet goes hungry and no family has to surrender their pet due to financial hardship. Your generous donations make this possible, caring for hundreds of pets and continuing our lifesaving work. 🥰

We had an incredible time this past weekend at not one, but two fantastic events—the Great Paper Airplane Fly-Off at the Pima Air & Space Museum and the Bullfrog Spas Adoption Event! ✈️🛁

We enjoyed all the exciting activities and loved connecting with our amazing community. And the best part? We celebrated FIVE adoptions over the weekend! 🐾 That’s five happy tails and five loving homes filled with love.

"Sweet Simon is a great way to describe him. Simon has fit right in to our home and our two cats, Cow and Betty who we adopted from you in November of 2023, love him as much as we do. He loves daily walks and hiking anywhere. Here he is at Mount Lemmon. Thank you!"

It’s , and Sven is stealing the spotlight! 🌟

Meet Sven—a 2-year-old Shepherd mix with a heart as big as his personality! This goofy, lovable pup is equal parts playful and affectionate, and he’s always ready to make new friends. In fact, he’s the life of the party in our playgroups! His signature move? Sitting right on your foot while he waits for his next playmate. Yep, he’s that cute. 🐾

Sven also firmly believes he’s a lap dog—so don’t be surprised if he tries to climb into your arms for some snuggles! And when it’s time to move, this boy has hops. His natural agility and athleticism make him a fun partner for any adventure.

Sven came to HSSA after being hit by a car, but thanks to the incredible care and support from our team, he’s made an amazing recovery. You’d never guess he had such a rough start—he’s now full of energy, confidence, and pure joy. He plays hard, loves even harder, and is always up for whatever comes next.
