🐾 Double-Coated Dog Owners, This One's for You! 🐾

We hear it all the time: "Wouldn't my dog be cooler if I shaved them for summer?"

Actually... no! 😲

Dogs with double coats (think Huskies, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Australian Shepherds, Newfoundlands, and more) have a coat designed to help regulate their body temperature year-round.

Why we don't recommend shaving double-coated dogs:

☀️ Their coat helps insulate them from both heat and cold.
☀️ Shaving removes protection from harmful UV rays, increasing the risk of sunburn.
☀️ The coat may not grow back the same, leading to patchy, uneven, or damaged regrowth.
☀️ It can permanently affect the coat's texture and ability to regulate temperature.

Instead of shaving, regular brushing and professional deshedding treatments help remove the loose undercoat that traps heat while keeping the protective topcoat intact.

A good deshed can remove piles of loose hair, help your pup feel more comfortable, and keep the shedding under control—all without damaging their coat.

When in doubt, ask your groomer! We're always happy to help you choose what's best for your dog's coat and comfort. ❤️🐶
