Bold color, vibrant embossing, and layered dimension came together for this modern birthday card design by 🎉✨
 
Supplies:
Ranger Ink
-Archival Ink: Jet Black
-Make-It Stamps: Bold Birthday
-Make It Stencils – Bold Shapes
-Embossing Powder: Turquoise, Blue, Green, Magenta, White
-Ranger Emboss It Ink Pad: Clear
 
Various Ranger Tools: Ranger Silicone Mat, Heat It Craft Tool, Archival Ink Cleaner, Tim Holtz Scissors
 
Instructions:
-Stamp multiple images from the Bold Birthday Stamp Set using the Clear Emboss It Ink Pad and Embossing powder in Turquoise, Blue, Green, and Magenta. Use Heat It Tool to melt and fussy cut each image to use as focal elements for the card.
-For the sentiment, stamp “Happy Birthday” onto green cardstock and heat emboss in white.
-Add background details using the line and circle elements from the Bold Shapes stencil with Jet Black Archival Ink.
-To assemble the design, arrange the embossed shapes into a floral-inspired layout and use foam adhesive to create extra dimension. The additional stencil accents helped complete the clean, contemporary birthday card with bold color and texture.

Dylusions:
-The Classics Journal
-Paint: Antique Cream, Cotton Candy Robins Egg, Mint Tea, Black Marble, White Linen
-Glue 1oz
Other:
· Mod Podge, Matte
· Uni Posca Paint Pen, Ultra-Fine Tip White 1MR, Black 1MR
· Acetate Sheet
· Craft Knife
· Small Brayer
· Watercolor brush
· Foam tape
· Shrink paper
· Resin
 
Instructions:
-Brayer over journal page using Antique Cream, Robins Egg and Mint Tea
-Splatter page with Black Marble paint
-Use your favorite stencil and stencil over entire page
-Draw gaping mouth image and color in teeth with White Linen paint and gums with Cotton Candy paint
-Paint in lips with Black Marble paint
-Cut out the inside of the mouth with a craft knife and draw the inside of the mouth onto the next page
-Draw a pill image on to shrink paper, color image, bake in oven according to instructions and coat in resin
-Glue a sheet of acetate to the back of the first page, add foam tape around the inside of the mouth on the opposite page
-Add your shrink paper charm between pages and glue shut with mod podge
-Journal within the lips of your image and doodle a border onto your page

-Rubber Stamp  Number Balloons
-Coordinating Dies for Both
-Stencils: Cue the Confetti, Gifted
-1 A2 Panel of Simon Hurley Stark White Cardstock Cut to 3.25 X 4.25 Panel + another piece for more stamping
-Stellar Ink Pads: Overzealous, Cry Baby, Ultraviolet, Pompous
-Astro Paste: High Tide
-Clear Foam Tape
-Spatula
Dina Wakley Media Glue

Misc Supplies:
1 A2 Cardbase
Stamping Platform
Die Cutting Machine
Acetate
Double Stick Tape
 
INSTRUCTIONS
-On the A2 cardbase use Cue the Confetti stencil
-Layer 1 use Pompous; Layer 2 use Ultraviolet
-Ink blend edges of the cardbase with Cry Baby
-With the Cue the Confetti stencil, use Astro Paste High Tide. Let dry.
On the 3.25 x 4.25 panel use the stencil Gifted
Layer 1 half Cry Baby, half Overzealous in portrait
Layer 2 using the same 2 colors just swap sides
Layer 3 Ultraviolet
Layer 4 Pompous
-Stamp the gator with the balloons & color. Die or fussy cut
-Stamp out the numbers you need in Ultraviolet. Die or fussy cut
-Cut a 1 x 4” strip of acetate + fold in half
Time to assemble
Start with the panel from step 4, the gifts
-Turn this over + mark the top
-Cut a strip of foam tape for each of the long sides + the bottom.
-Place this panel in the center of your card front, attaching the acetate to the giftcard + gator.
-The acetate might be too long depending on your giftcard + balloon placement
-With the acetate laying flat in vertical orientation, place a piece of double stick tape at the bottom
-Peel the backing + attach to the back of the gift card, about a quarter to half inch down
-Place the gift card in the pocket on the front of the cardbase with the acetate sticking out the top
-Fold the acetate over + see where the gator+ balloons with rest on the acetate
-Place double stick tape in areas the gator + balloons overlap the acetate.  Trim off any extra acetate
-Check + make sure everything freely moves

Instructions:
-Cover tag with paper + bits of collage paper. Use Collage Medium to adhere everything in place.
Dry thoroughly.
-Trim away excess paper with scissors.
-Grab a solid stencil + apply Crackle Paste through the stencil.
-To help blend the stenciled design into the background, spread a little more paste around the tag and around the stenciled numbers.
-Let everything air dry completely.
-Choose two Distress Oxide Sprays from the same color family.
-Spray small amounts of color onto the tag without oversaturating the surface.
Use a brush to help blend the colors together.
-Before drying with a heat tool, use a baby wipe if you feel you added too much color. Dry thoroughly.
-Take a darker Distress Ink + ink edges of the tag to create depth.
-Repeat the process with a brown shade to add even more dimension.
To bring the texture back to life, apply a little Distress Spray Stain directly from the bottle nozzle. A tiny amount is enough. Lightly mist with water + use a brush to work the color into the cracks.
Dry again + use Black Distress Oxide Ink to increase contrast.
-Stamp a few small details to add visual interest.
-Apply Foundry Wax with your fingers using a very light touch to enhance the raised texture.
-Heat set well to fix the wax.
-Add a few extra ink splatters if needed.
-Finish with your clusters, sentiment, ribbon and your tag is complete!

Layers, texture, tags, paint… and a little bit of creative chaos 🎨✨

In our latest YouTube tutorial, creates a mixed media assemblage page in the MEdia Journal using layered tags, transparencies, stencils, gloss sprays, acrylic paints, and more. Featuring the Flower Crowns stamp set, Groovy Coaster & Dotted Tape stencils, and Grunge Specimens transparencies, this project is all about experimenting, building dimension, and letting the page evolve as you go.
