🐾 Behind the Whiskers: Meet Ruth 🐾

Ruth first joined the FALC family through FSU’s work-study program, but what started as a job quickly became a passion.

Her favorite part of the work? Watching a cat she’s bonded with go home to a loving adopter. “It’s the best feeling knowing they’ll be safe and happy,” she says.

Ruth isn’t just an advocate, she’s also an adopter! Her cat, Patsy, is a special needs kitty she adopted through the rescue. Patsy’s condition requires ongoing care, and while it can be a challenge, Ruth says it’s more than worth it. “She’s so loving and funny. I couldn’t imagine life without her.”

Working behind the scenes at a rescue is no small feat, from coordinating vet visits to giving meds and everything in between, and Ruth has seen just how much work FALC puts into caring for these animals.

Her advice for future adopters? “Adopting a cat is a commitment similar to choosing a child. They rely on your presence, your guidance, and your love. A cat’s average intelligence is that of a toddler, so be mindful and prepared to care for them with the same patience and responsibility.”

Our Story

Wanting to deliver a unique experience to the Tallahassee community, Fat Cat Cafe Tallahassee officially opened its doors in August of 2017.

From the start, our mission has always been, and always will be, about giving cats a second chance at life. By partnering with local rescue organizations, we’re able to save kitties from all walks of life and give them a fresh start at Fat Cat Cafe. These cats are then housed at our cafe, all patiently waiting to meet you and find their new furever home.

Our cafe side of things offer an eclectic boutique (full of gifts for cat lovers) and delicious coffee and teas, all available for your enjoyment while you cozy up to our residents.
