Oscar the Rescue

Oscar the Rescue Oscar came into our lives on Christmas Eve 2020 after being at the shelter for a month. The Shelter Staff took amazing care of him before coming to us.

The purpose of this page is to highlight adopting shelter animals and showcasing those available.

Today we celebrate the one-of-a-kind pups who don't fit into any single breed- but somehow fit perfectly into our hearts.

Mixed breed dogs are loyal, goofy, loving, and full of personality. Whether they're snuggle bugs, adventure buddies, or professional treat-inspectors, mutts truly make life better.

If you're thinking about adding a furry friends to your family, consider adopting a mixed-breed dog. Your new best friend might be waiting for you at the shelter!

The Liberty Animal Control and Shelter team has some tips for keeping your pet safe when it's cold outside. Remember-- if it's too cold for you, it's too cold for them!

The City of Liberty Code of Ordinances, Chapter 4-5 states "The owner of an animal shall provide it with humane shelter from heat, cold, rain, wind and snow, and shall give it food and water adequate to keep the animal in good health and comfort. Houses and kennels shall be soundly constructed, dry and provided in cold weather with clean bedding."

Can you believe Thanksgiving is NEXT WEEK?!! It's common for veterinary practices see an increased number of emergency patients during this time of year due to food toxicities. We would like to help you to prevent a visit to vet.

Avoid toxic foods like grapes, stuffing, alcohol and chocolate and foods that can cause GI punctures or blockages like turkey bones and turkey skins. We recommend providing your animal a safe space to go during exciting events like family gatherings by setting up a crate or utilizing a spare bedroom. Don't forget to keep the lid on your garbage bins or keep them out of reach for your furry friends.

The Liberty Animal Shelter is excited to continue featuring our older souls of the for National Adopt a Senior Pet Month! Today's feature is Omen! He came to us after being on the run for several weeks in a rural part of Missouri. Omen just wants some TLC and is really looking forward to gaining the holiday weight this year! Are you a biscuit lover? If so, don't walk but RUN to the Liberty Animal Shelter to meet Cheddar Bay Biscuit! He enjoys long naps on the couch and is a certified lap cat. He comes in an extra large size for maximum biscuit love.

Meet Lakita! She is roughly 5 to 6 years old and is a victim of a hoarding situation.

We are thankful to have Lakita at the Liberty Animal Shelter now, but we're looking for a special family to be her forever home! Lakita loves to be around people and other dogs, lounging on the couch and getting belly rubs.
