If your pet has needed medications in the past for the holiday, or if you suspect you may need something this year, call for refills NOW! Waiting until last minute may not guarantee available refills in time, and with an increase in pets needing these meds this time of year, your vet may be low on stock.
𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘆𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲.
Especially frightened pets will escape even the best secured yards, so if your pet is especially prone to firework anxiety, best to leash-walk outside using a securely fitting harness or collar.
𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝘁𝘀' 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗽-𝘁𝗼-𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲.
Shelters and clinics do not always register them for you after placement. If you aren't sure if your chip has been updated, you can look it up at https://petmicrochiplookup.org. Not sure of your pets' chip numbers? Call your vet and ask about scanning them, or they may already have the chip number on file.
𝗘𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗻𝘂𝗴𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗮𝗴𝘀.
Collars should be tight enough to get two fingers between the collar and neck. Verify that collars are snugly on with updated ID tags.

After scanning lost pet, enter the number into the microchip registry tool to search for the manufacturer of the chip.

🩷❤️After being adopted from the Liberty Animal Shetler into separate homes, these two sweet siblings have met again! Gracie and Judith both returned for their puppy vaccines and surprisingly ran into one another! Here's to furever friendship and beautiful reunion's! 🐾🩷❤️

Have a plan to keep your furry ones safe! Make sure medications are refilled before we are closed for the holiday weekend, especially if they are needed for fireworks anxiety. Make sure fences are secure and ID tags and microchips are up to date.

Fireworks and Storms are coming! If your dog has an aversion to these events, we can help!
Be sure to get plenty of exercise. Taking your dogs out for play and exercise earlier in the day, besides being a healthy thing to do, can help burn off extra energy, limiting their anxiety later and helping them rest more soundly at home.
Occupy pets with new (or favorite old) toys. You can help distract your pets by introducing new toys and treats into the house; food puzzles and long-lasting treats can be a great way to keep them distracted from noises that frighten them.
Consult with your veterinarian If the problem persists or seems insurmountable and talk about a plan that may include further behavior modification and/or medical intervention. Make that appointment as soon as possible to ensure a plan is in place before the fireworks begin.
