Rhythm, now officially Phillip, is the first to fly the coop! Congratulations Paquette family!

The Paquettes hold a really special place in our story. They were one of our very first waitlist families ever, all the way back to our very first litter. At the time, life had other plans and the timing just wasn’t right, so they made the incredibly hard decision to wait.

And if there’s one thing we’ve learned doing this, it’s that the right puppies have a way of finding their way to the right people… even if they take the scenic route getting there.

As much as that first missed opportunity stung at the time, it’s so clear now that it happened exactly the way it was supposed to. Phillip was apparently just taking his time making a grand entrance and keeping them on the edge of their seats.

After all this time, patience, and trust in the process, we couldn’t imagine a more perfect match. He is so deeply loved already, and we know he’s walking into the kind of home every puppy deserves.

This one feels full circle in the best way 🩵

We’ve been a little quiet over here… which usually means one thing: controlled chaos, puppy edition.

Behind the scenes it’s been a full production. Vet visits, go home packets, gift baskets, and approximately 47 hours of “just one more cuddle before I get up” that somehow turns into another hour on the floor.

We keep telling ourselves we’re being productive, but if we’re honest, most of our time has been spent soaking up these last days. Extra playtime, extra snuggles, and a lot of “how are you already big enough to leave us?”

The Encore crew has been keeping us on our toes in the best way, and it really does feel like each of them has their perfect family waiting. Which helps us let these little ones go… a little 🥹

The first of them heads home this weekend, so if you need us, we’ll just be over here pretending we’re fine while absolutely not being fine. 😭

And just like that, Selection Day has come and gone, and every puppy from both our Swan Song and Encore litters has officially been chosen by their waitlist families.

This part is always a little bittersweet. After weeks of raising them in our home, watching their personalities unfold, learning every little quirk, and helping families truly get to know them, they stop feeling like just “the puppies” and start becoming someone’s heart dog.

It would be much easier to let families choose based on color, eye color, or gender. But our puppies and our families deserve more than that.

Selection Day is about temperament, connection, and finding the right fit. I spend countless hours raising these puppies in my home, observing who they are, completing temperament testing, building their profiles, and meeting one-on-one with each family so they can truly meet their puppy, not just choose one from a photo.

It takes more time, but it matters. Because our puppies deserve to find the family they were meant for just as much as our families deserve to find the puppy meant for them.

And every single time, it feels like they end up exactly where they were always supposed to be.

In true Southpaw fashion, not a single puppy made it to a public “available” post. Every litter we’ve had has been chosen by our waitlist families before ever becoming publicly available, and these litters were no exception.

We already have exciting plans for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027, and if you’ve been hoping for a Southpaw puppy, the waitlist is where that journey begins. Final Auditions before the Casting Call 🎭

Selection day is here and something about this moment that never really gets easier to put into words. Every litter has it. That quiet pause right before everything changes just a little.

They’re still fully ours right now. Still a pack, still a blur of puppy piles and chaos and personality. But you can feel it coming. The shift. The moment where each of their stories starts to branch off in its own direction.

It’s always a little surreal. You spend weeks watching them grow, learning every tiny detail about who they are, and then suddenly it’s time for them to be seen for exactly that. Not just puppies anymore, but family members someone is about to fall in love with.

And this litter… it just feels a little heavier in the best way. Calliope’s Swan Song. A final chapter that somehow came together more beautifully than we could have imagined.

We’ll be soaking in this last glimpse of them just like this. All together. Exactly as they are.

Encore Litter | 4 Week Update

Okay… now we’re talking.

This past week, their personalities didn’t just show up… they clocked in. We’ve officially entered the era of confidence and tiny little attitudes in very small bodies.

And it has been a big week. Crate training has begun, potty habits are forming, and they’ve had their first time outside… which started off with some very strong “absolutely not” energy and then a full personality flip into “actually this is amazing and we live here now.”

We are so proud of how they’ve handled every single milestone.

Rhythm
Smallest in the litter, but absolutely not taking that personally. He moves through life with the confidence of a much bigger dog and has been so brave with every new thing we’ve thrown his way. He’s happiest in our arms, but perfectly content to go off and explore on his own too. Very “I love you but I have things to do.”

He keeps us laughing with what we call his “spin to win” move… just happy little spins when he gets excited like he’s celebrating his own existence.

And his eyes… we thought they’d be brown, but they turned out mostly blue with matching parti brown along the bottom of each eye. The symmetry on this boy is unreal, like someone very carefully placed it there on purpose. Between that and his dimensional coat coming in like Lavender’s, he is a perfect little fox.

Symphony
She is the fox. No debate.

That rich red coat paired with those amber eyes… she genuinely looks like she belongs out in the woods instead of in my living room. It’s one of those looks that makes you do a double take every time.

She’s also smart as a whip and has taken to potty and crate training like she’s been doing it for weeks. Already using her potty area and settling into the crate for naps with her siblings like it’s no big deal.

She’s charming, affectionate, and very aware of it. The kind of puppy that makes you feel like you’re her favorite person…

Melody
Sweet with just enough spice to keep things interesting. She usually lets her brother and sisters go first when it comes to new things, but she’s right behind them, usually launching a perfectly timed sneak attack on her siblings.

She is a little p**f, but don’t let that fool you. She’s probably the sassiest of the group, but not in a troublemaker way… more like she knows exactly how cute she is and uses it responsibly.

Harmony
Our lover girl… and very much the one in charge (according to her). She’s just as confident as her brother, coming bounding over every single time, tail wagging, tongue out, ready to absolutely smother me in kisses.

You can see her husky mask coming in more every day, and once those ears are up, she is going to look so husky. She is going to be stunning, and it’s only getting more obvious by the day.

Her coat is already showing that same rich, dimensional depth as Lavender’s, and she is going to be something really special

Swan Song | 3 Week Update | Act II

Intermission is over and we’re back for Act II! 🎶

The second half of this litter is stepping into the spotlight, and they’re just as full of personality, charm, and opinions as their siblings. At this stage, it’s less “learning to walk” and more “figuring out how to run the show”… and they’re all pretty confident they’ve got it handled.

Introducing the final four:

🦢 Serenade 🦢
A little bit of sugar, a little bit of spice, and everything in between. She has a really nice balance to her already, happy to bring a little sass when it suits her but just as content to settle in for a quiet moment. The kind of puppy that keeps things interesting without ever overdoing it.

🦢 Vesper 🦢
Our perfect little button. She’s easygoing, steady, and completely unbothered by whatever chaos might be happening around her. There’s something very settled about her already, paired with that beautiful mask and fox-tip tail that make her hard to miss.

🦢 Fantasia 🦢
A soft, snuggly girl who has very clearly decided that being held is one of life’s better options. She melts right into my arms and stays there without complaint, more than happy to take a step back from the action in favor of a good nap. It’s a tough life.

🦢 Aria 🦢
Our wolf grey girl, and already so reminiscent of her big sister Alaska (FKA Vista). You can see that same striking look starting to come through, along with a bit of that familiar sass. She carries herself with a quiet confidence that’s hard to miss, even at this age.

That’s all eight of our Swan Song babies, and it’s been so much fun watching them start to come into themselves over this past week.

Swan Song | 3 Week Update | Act I

Three weeks in, and the Swan Song babies have officially entered their next era… eyes open, legs under them, and just enough confidence to start acting like they run the place.

This is always the stage where everything shifts. They’re no longer just sleepy little potatoes, they’re starting to interact, explore, and very clearly develop opinions. And this group? Big personalities already… a little bit of sass, a little bit of confidence, and absolutely no hesitation about letting us know how they feel about things.

So without further ado, here is our first quartet!

🦢 Sonata 🦢
Our aspiring soprano and resident prima donna. Her personality is somehow bigger than her tiny body, and she already has plenty to say about everything. There is a lot of sass packed into this one, and she’s going to be a talker. The kind of dog that keeps you entertained and a house full of laughter.

🦢Reverie 🦢
Small, a little scruffy, and very true to her name. She’s our quiet observer, content to sit back and watch everything unfold before deciding if she’d like to participate. There’s something very calm and thoughtful about her already.

🦢Nocturne 🦢
Our sweet boy. He’s brave in his own way, but very much a lover at heart. He’s already doing his best version of “running” up to greet me, tail wagging, handing out tiny little kisses like it’s his full-time job.

🦢Cadence 🦢
Another calm, gentle girl. A little bit bigger than her sister Reverie but just as grounded, already making steady eye contact like she’s taking everything in. You can see that little brain working behind her eyes, quietly figuring everything out.
