Life at NAAH isnโ€™t all puppies and kittens. We deal with hard cases and sad news on a daily basis, normally multiple times a day.

For me, the hardest part isnโ€™t the euthanasias. When we have a hand in helping to end a petโ€™s suffering, there is lots of peace in that. There are so many things we canโ€™t control with our pets, and to be able to help them pass in a quiet, peaceful way is a blessing.

The hardest part for me comes before. The earth shattering delivery of bad news. The pet owners caught off guard. The disappearance of hope and realization of time slipping away. The pup that doesnโ€™t realize theyโ€™re sick. Itโ€™s hard delivering this news time after time after time, but itโ€™s what we are called to do. We do it with compassion, never making it seem routine. It may be the fourth time today weโ€™ve delivered bad news but for this family, itโ€™s the first time in a decade theyโ€™ve had to hear bad news about their loved one. We donโ€™t take that for granted. We thank you NAAH family for trusting us with your pets.
