We welcome Dr. Hannah Barnes back to Helton Plaza Veterinary Hospital and Woodward Avenue Animal Clinic! Dr. Barnes will start seeing patients June 2, 2025 at Helton Plaza Veterinary Hospital and Woodward Avenue Animal Clinic as she joins Drs. Maj Morgan and Dan Whitlow. Welcome home!
I’m from Florence, Alabama. I have always loved animals of all kinds and spent much of my childhood fishing, catching turtles and frogs, and playing with family pets. I attended undergraduate at the University of North Alabama with plans to study marine biology. During my freshman year at UNA, I began working as a veterinary assistant under Dr. Whitlow, and quickly decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. I completed my B.S. in Biology at UNA, then attended Auburn University where I received my D.V.M.
I have 2 cats, Lou and Birdie, a dog, Rocky, as well as goldfish, a turtle, and a hermit crab. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, baking, and caring for my houseplants. I’m very excited to be back in the Shoals area and begin my veterinary career!
