🎆 We are open for emergencies on July 4th!

🦮 Tips to help keep your pets safe:

During Fireworks:

🔴 Provide a safe space:
Create a comfortable, escape-proof area for your pet indoors, away from the noise and excitement of fireworks. A crate, closet, or interior room can work well, especially if it's cool and has minimal windows.

⚪️ Muffle the noise:
Close windows and curtains, and consider playing calming music or using a fan to help drown out the sounds of fireworks.

🔵 Consider medication:
If your pet has a history of severe anxiety due to fireworks, talk to your veterinarian about whether anti-anxiety medication or calming aids might be helpful.

🔴 Keep them indoors:
Do not bring pets to fireworks displays or other large gatherings where they might become overwhelmed and potentially run away.

General Safety Tips:

⚪️ Identification:
Ensure your pet's ID tags are up-to-date and that they are microchipped, in case they get lost.

🔵 Heatstroke Prevention:
Provide plenty of fresh water and shade, and limit outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day.

🔴 Food Safety:
Keep barbecue food and leftovers out of reach, as many common foods can be toxic to pets (e.g., chocolate, onions, grapes).

⚪️ Avoid Hazards:
Keep sparklers, glow sticks, charcoal, and other potential hazards away from curious pets.

🔵 Be aware of poison hazards:
Many substances found at cookouts or campsites can be harmful to pets if ingested.

🧨 Don't use fireworks around pets:
Even unused fireworks can be dangerous.

Summer is here! Keep your dogs safe and cool during the hottest part of the day ☀️ 🥵

PROTECT THOSE PAWS! As the first big heat wave of the summer unfolds in the the next few days, Boomer wants to remind you that during the heat of the day with the sun beating down, the pavement can get too hot for walks. Concrete and asphalt will get much hotter than the air temperature and can burn your dogs paws!

👏🏻 Happy Veterinary Appreciation Day❕

We appreciate our veterinarians every single day, but we especially want to make it known today! SAVE is fortunate to have 4 full-time veterinarians that genuinely care about providing the best treatment possible to the pets in their care.

If your pet has been cared for by Dr. Melissa Pounders Hale, Dr. Clinton Brown or Dr. Elizabeth Mitchell, please give a shout out to them in our comments!

Dr. Emma Kate Griffin just joined our vet team this week and we can’t wait for everyone to meet her!

Happy World Veterinary Day! 🩺 🐶 🐱

🌍🐾 Happy World Veterinary Day! 🐾🌍
📅 Celebrated every year on the last Saturday of April, World Veterinary Day honors the incredible contributions of veterinary professionals around the globe.

At the Tennessee Veterinary Technicians Association, we proudly stand alongside veterinarians and veterinary teams who dedicate their lives to protecting the health and welfare of animals—whether it’s in clinics, shelters, farms, labs, or classrooms.

💚 This year’s theme: "Veterinary Resilience"
Veterinary professionals face emotional, physical, and mental challenges every day. This year, we shine a light on the strength, compassion, and dedication that keeps our profession going strong—even in tough times.

🎉 Today, we celebrate:
✔️ The life-saving work done behind the scenes
✔️ The bond between animals and humans
✔️ The teamwork that keeps veterinary care thriving

🐾 To all veterinarians, veterinary technicians, assistants, and support staff—we see you, we thank you, and we stand with you. 💪💙
