πŸ°πŸ’• Meet Honey!

This sweet little girl was our adorable rabbit patient today for her spay surgery. While she’s winning hearts with those floppy ears, her surgery is also one of the best things her family can do for her long-term health. Spaying and neutering rabbits isn’t just about preventing unwanted litters. It can also provide important health and behavioral benefits, including:

πŸ‡ Reduced risk of reproductive cancers
πŸ‡ Less territorial behavior
πŸ‡ Reduced urine spraying and marking
πŸ‡ Improved companionship with bonded rabbits
πŸ‡ A healthier, happier life

Did you know that unspayed female rabbits have an extremely high risk of developing uterine cancer as they age? Spaying is one of the best things you can do for their long-term health.

Give this sweet recovery patient some love in the comments! ❀️

🐱 Heartworm disease isn't just a dog problem.

Cats are also at risk, even if they spend their lives indoors. Mosquitoes can easily find their way inside homes and expose indoor cats to heartworms.

The best protection is prevention.

Talk with our team about heartworm prevention options for your cat.

🐱🧡 Cats Love String. Their Stomachs Don't.

Many cats are fascinated by string, yarn, ribbon, thread, dental floss, and hair ties. While these items may seem like harmless toys, they can cause serious problems if swallowed.

Some string-like objects can become caught around the tongue while the rest moves into the digestive tract, creating a situation that requires veterinary attention.

The best way to keep your cat safe is to store string-like items out of reach.

If you think your cat may have swallowed a string, give us a call.

β˜€οΈ Summer temperatures can be tough on outdoor pets.

Many people are surprised to learn that dog houses can actually trap heat, making them much hotter than the temperature outside. While they provide shelter from rain and wind, they may not provide relief from the summer heat.

To help keep your dog safe:
🐾 Provide plenty of fresh, cool water
🐾 Make sure shaded areas have good airflow
🐾 Check water bowls frequently throughout the day
🐾 Watch for signs of heat stress, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, or lethargy

If you suspect your pet may be suffering from heat stress, contact us right away.
