In rescue work, we have great days full of hope and potential, and we have difficult days that break our heart.

2 years ago, while picking up another rescue gelding from Sound Equine Vet Hospital, the vet staff asked me if there was any way we could open our farm and hearts to a very deserving off the track thoroughbred, Indio, who was scheduled for euthanasia the next day.

I was at Sound Equine picking up “Buck”, a lovely large QH gelding that was rescued from a Texas kill pen with an enormous bone chip in his coffin joint. Indio was another rescue that required a bone chip surgery in his knee along with rehab for a few other things.

I decided to give Indio one of our few “winning lottery tickets” to join us at Fox-Bell to get the surgery, care and training that he needed to live a comfortable life.

Indio and and Buck are both rehabbed from their surgeries and are thriving at FBF!

Buck still requires ongoing medical needs to stay comfortable, but much less than he would need without surgery and treatment!

Indio… well, he’s a superstar now ⭐️
With our student Moraya Pulley in the irons, Indio has blossomed into an incredible sport horse who is moving up the levels… and quickly!

Thanks to people, such as the Pulley family, who lease and care for these horses through our lease program- because of them we are able to do this kind of life saving work ❤️

In all the good things, there are hard things too. Seeing this memory from two years ago makes me smile after a tough afternoon saying a very hard and final “goodbye” to two very loved horses we rescued many year ago.

Today, Jack and Phoenix (both slaughter rescues), crossed the rainbow bridge with love and dignity. Both in their 30s (well, Jack may have hit 40!) 🌈

Thank you to all of our clients and followers who support this journey and help make this possible.

Another special thank you to Dr Cori Youngblood who preformed both Buck and Indio’s life changing surgeries and helped Jack and Phoenix rest in peace.
We also thank Shane of Washburn Services for helping with giving Jack and Phoenix their final resting place.

Quin, my super-horse! 🦸‍♂️ ⭐️

Many of you know Quin and his story…. Next month marks 3 years of rehabilitation, hard work, and a little faith.

A once very painful and emotional horse that was running out of options…. is now comfortable in his body and a very happy competitor!

This weekend Quin attended his first dressage show and debuted at Fourth level (highest national level) and ended today winning both his classes…

Not only is Quin showing potential to move into the FEI (international) levels, this beautiful horse is a patient and loving teacher and trail horse to my 5 year old son, Ryan.

What an honor to pilot a horse with so much heart ❤️

I have many people to thank on “Team Quin”….
Just to name a few…

-Dr Cori Youngblood for believing Quin deserved a second chance… and for all your medical guidance along the way!

-Emily Sorensen for coaching us every month for the last 3 year together. We are so grateful for you and your wisdom!

-Chloe McGee, thank you for pushing me to get back in the show area. What are great friends for?!

-Martha Vaughan… because everyone needs to have a “biggest fan”!

Cheers to a perfect start to our season! 🥂

Friendly reminder… NO LESSONS FOR MEMORIAL DAY (tomorrow)! 🇺🇸 Enjoy the long weekend!

Late is better than never (sorry for the late post!)

Last week my team did wonderful at the first Bainbridge Island jumping show of our season!

Brooke won all three of her classes and took home the championship in her division on Derby 🥇

Billy and Sonny got second place in all the same classes as Brooke and Derby (doesn’t get better than taking 1st and 2nd!) 🥈

Samantha got all 3rds in her division and also won her championship! 🥇 🥉

Looking forward to going back in June!!

Tahiti 🏝️- Tahiti is a big bodied 17.0hh+ OTTB mare ready to finish for the arena of your choosing! Tahiti is 12 years old and a stunning flea bitten gray. Tahiti has had a history of trail riding but has been really focused in the arena the last couple years being leased by a teenager.
Tahiti has a huge step that could easily make a hunter, a beautiful jump, and the looks to get her noticed. She prefers a confident rider as she is still green.

Pickles 🥒- This beautiful red OTTB mare is 12 years old and stands a very athletically built 16.0hh. Pickles is an “all-a-rounder” that would shine in many different disciplines! Pickles has a beautiful round canter, lofty big trot, and is very soft in the contact. She has her own engine in the arena, but can also trail ride on the buckle. Pickles loads and hauls like a dream and will lead or follow. Pickles has been started over jumps and would excel focusing on jumping, eventing, or endurance.
This level-headed mare is a barn favorite and is only for sale due to too many horses, not enough people in our program to lease them. This one does not disappoint!

Queso 🧀- Queso is a stunning 12 year old palomino QH standing a stocky 15.2hh. Formerly a Montana “header” horse, Queso is looking for a softer life enjoying the trails and backcountry.
Queso had an injury to the SI that makes him serviceable sound in the arena, but not limited on trail riding! He has had extensive vet work that can be shared, and he has improved significantly!! Loads and hauls like a dream and easy-peasy on the trail. An all around GREAT guy who is an absolute pleasure to have in barn.
