We believe that natural communication and robust health lead to the highest levels of horsemanship. At Freedom Farm, we dedicate ourselves to providing individuals the tools and techniques to fulfill and expand their equestrian passions. I HAD MY left knee replaced this week, which understandably left me with little energy to write Horseplay, so I want to thank Kimi Robertson for contributing to this column by sharing how well some of Freedom Farm’s Hoof Beats Youth Riding Club members did during this year’s show season.

Our Hoof Beats competition team was honored at the Bainbridge Island Saddle Club year end awards banquet this weekend! Lily, Daniela, Hadley, Bella and Coach Mary were all recognized, with Lily winning Champion Over Fences! (Check our Instagram feed for a nice clip of Lily and Ruby, attached to this post!)

Professor Jerry Schmidt taught Friday ground class yesterday, to everyone’s delight. He brought wisdom from c**t starting to a series of one on one sessions, getting us to prepare our horses for saddling—and of course it was about so much more! Clear communication, economy of communication, settling ourselves down first. Thank you, Jerry!
