👋🏼Hi Everyone!
New year, new intro to what Miss Nina’s Mini Farm Experience LLC is all about, and well, who the heck is Miss Nina anyways?!
Miss Nina (that’s me!) is a wife of 18 years, Mom of 5 children, teacher, student and self proclaimed mini farmHer. She is also incredibly chatty, very passionate about building connections and well, pretty much an open book. Want to know something? Just ask. 📖📚
Miss Nina is the primary caretaker of her small homestead in Scotts , Michigan. She is also the farm assistant to her family’s farm next door. It’s here that she soaks in as many farm lessons as possible from “Farmer UJ” 💗
****This is where I will stop talking in third person. It’s weird now that we know each other, right?! 😉
🍎I began this adventure with very basic goals- I wanted to connect children to agriculture and I wanted to connect people to self sustainability, even in just a very small scale. Trust me, I didn’t grow up on a farm and am absolutely learning as I go. (Ask me sometime about my escaped mini cow, the pig that hated me or my false understanding of nature vs nurture in sheep raising.) I truly believe that If I can make changes to help sustain my family, anyone can!
🤔So, in the spring of 2024 I jumped full force into this happy mini adventure. Think, midlife crisis - miniature animal style! By the end of the year, I was convinced this was where I needed to focus ALL of my free time, money, sanity and patience. My family was thrilled, as you can imagine. 🤣
I think it’s important to note that never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that people would want to come hang out in my backyard! What a humbling and surreal thing to have people pay to visit my home! When I began this adventure, I dreamt I would be taking animals into schools and classrooms. I imagined therapy animals, experiences in self regulation for children in OT and all sorts of things where I was mobile. I still want to do that! But, I am also finding that there are SO many amazing connections to create by opening up my backyard oasis to provide very REAL life experiences. People need that too! (Even if I feel a little uncomfortable at times living under a microscope 🙃)
In 2025, I really felt like I was finding my footing! What an amazing year! I am celebrating how far I have come, as well as the clarity that I am gaining on my future endeavors.
This past year:
