The Shelter is operated by Sonoma County Animal Care and Control, a division of the Department of Health Services. In addition, the Shelter sponsors various community education and outreach programs throughout the year. The Shelter's field services include rescue and care of injured or distressed animals, rabies control, investigation of reports of animal abuse and neglect, and the enforcement of animal regulation laws and ordinances. In addition to its on-site and field personnel, the Shelter is assisted by the efforts of our volunteers who work with the animals in our care and participate in various education and fundraising programs.

✨ Meet Miss Winnie! ✨

At just 13 weeks old, Winnie is already serving glamour, confidence, and a whole lot of purr-sonality! With her gorgeous looks and an impressively loud purr, you’d never guess this little lady had such a rough beginning.

Winnie arrived at the shelter as part of a litter of kittens found scared and covered in fleas. Not exactly the glamorous entrance she deserved! Thankfully, our caring shelter staff jumped into action, making sure the kittens received the immediate care they needed before heading off to a loving foster home.

With a little TLC, a safe place to grow, and lots of love, these little ones have blossomed into the beautiful, happy kittens they were always meant to be. ❤️

💙 Meet Chase. A sensitive soul with a wonderfully quirky personality just beginning to shine.
At 1 year old and 44 pounds, this Border Collie has made wonderful progress over the past few weeks in a loving foster home. The busy shelter environment was overwhelming for his sensitive nature, making it difficult for him to feel settled and show his true personality. With time and space to decompress, Chase is growing more comfortable and revealing glimpses of the charming, delightfully awkward boy beneath it all. 🐾
Now, Chase is looking for a forever home that understands him. As a sensitive, intelligent breed, Border Collies thrive with patience, understanding, mental enrichment, and a person who appreciates their unique personalities.
Chase doesn’t need to be rushed. He needs someone willing to let him blossom at his own pace and discover just how good life can be. ❤️
Could you be the person who helps Chase shine? 🏡
