🎉 Happy 40th Birthday, Schroeder! 🎂

Como’s gentle giant turns 40 today! At just over 500 pounds, Schroeder is the biggest and perhaps most easygoing gorilla at Como. As the silverback of our family group, he leads with quiet confidence, keeping everyone calm and connected.

Don’t let that serious expression fool you. When Schroeder looks like he’s frowning, it simply means he’s relaxed! Whether he’s sharing space with his troop, or enjoying a peaceful snack, Schroeder is the picture of strength and serenity.

Join us in wishing this gentle leader a very happy milestone birthday! 🦍💚

👻🌿 Something bewitching is growing at Como!

Fox 9 Garden Guy Dale K stopped by to check out our “Bewitching Botanicals” display, a Halloween-themed collection of some of Como’s creepiest and most curious plants. From spiky “Beds of Nails” to carnivorous pitcher plants and smelly surprises, it’s a frightfully fun visit to our very own Boo-tanical Garden, and the perfect spot for a spooky photo op! 🎃

🐾❄️ Yesterday we celebrated International Snow Leopard Day with some wild fun across Como Zoo! From our big cats to our small critters, many of our residents enjoyed snow leopard–themed enrichment — a playful way to highlight these incredible and endangered mountain cats.

Enrichment activities keep animals active, curious, and engaged, while giving our guests a closer look at how we care for them every day.

Thanks to everyone who joined us in celebrating and learning more about the importance of snow leopard conservation! 💙

Last Call for Mold-A-Rama Magic at Como!

If you grew up watching that warm plastic figure drop into your hands with a smile, now is the time to relive the magic one more time!

After delighting generations of visitors, Como’s beloved Mold-A-Rama machines featuring the gorilla, lion, sea lion, and polar bear will soon be packing up and heading south. The company that owns and operates the Mold-A-Ramas has decided to move them to a region with a longer peak season. While this was not a decision made by Como, we are so grateful for the joy and nostalgia these classic machines have brought to our visitors over the years.

Stop by soon for your final chance to take home one, or all, of these iconic souvenirs before they are gone. Every Mold-A-Rama purchase helps support Como’s animals, gardens, and our mission to keep Como free and accessible 365 days a year.

The machines move on the week of November 3rd. Come mold one more memory with us!

Celebrate International Snow Leopard Day With Us Tomorrow, October 23!

These rare and powerful cats are true masters of the mountains, and we’re proud to have our own snow leopard family right here at Como Zoo! Alya and her playful cub, Willow, remind us every day why protecting this endangered species matters.

Fewer than 6,400 snow leopards remain in the wild, but through conservation programs, education, and care, there’s hope for their future. Visit Como to celebrate these incredible cats and learn how zoos like ours help make a difference.
