(336)

We only adopt out within the Sacramento Area. Find our website at: recycledpetsnorcal.org We only adopt to families within the Sacramento Region. We NEVER transport dogs because we make commitments to the dogs for life. We want to make sure, in as much as possible, that they do not end up back in shelters or homeless again. You can meet our animals at our adoption events, out side of those we REQU

IRE an application be filled out prior to meeting our dogs one-on-one (done as a home check). We do NOT adopt on a first come first serve basis, we want to make sure our dogs find the perfect family that suits their needs. If you are not selected for the dog you asked for, we may be able to help you find the right dog for you, your family, and your lifestyle.

Sacramento’s heat is brutal this week, and I wanted to share an important reminder for anyone with dogs.

Flat-faced (brachycephalic) breeds like French Bulldogs, Pugs, English Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, Shih Tzus, Boxers, and Pekingese are especially vulnerable to heat stroke because they can’t cool themselves as efficiently as other dogs.

Watch for signs of heat stroke:
• Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
• Bright red or pale gums
• Heavy drooling
• Weakness or stumbling
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Confusion, collapse, or seizures

If you think your dog is overheating, move them into air conditioning or shade immediately, offer cool (not ice-cold) water, and wet them with cool water—especially on their belly, paws, and groin. Then head to the nearest emergency veterinarian. Heat stroke is a true emergency and can become life-threatening very quickly.

A few simple precautions can make all the difference:
• Walk dogs early in the morning or after the sun goes down.
• If the pavement is too hot for the back of your hand for several seconds, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.
• Never leave a dog in a parked car, even for a few minutes.
• Make sure they always have access to fresh water and shade.

Please keep an eye on your pets this week, especially seniors, puppies, and flat-faced breeds. Stay safe out there.

Ginger, the dog pretzel, is still looking for her home. She loves dogs and people, is crate trained and learns tricks fast. Cannot conceptualize boundaries. Thinks all attention is good attention. Smart, but also dumb. So so happy. Nervous on a leash, so unlikely a good hiking or paddle board friend (maybe with some work). She is devoted and so cute.

ADOPTED!

Ora is a happy, energetic pup looking for her perfect forever home! She’s full of personality, loves to play, and is always ready to be part of the action. If you’re looking for a dog that will keep you smiling and moving, Ora might be your girl.

A few things to know about this sweet wiggle machine:
🐶 Very active — she’ll do best with someone who enjoys walks, playtime, and continued training
🐾 Still learning her potty training (she’s making progress!)

⬆️ She LOVES to jump and greet you with enthusiasm, so we’re recommending no small kids and no homes with mobility concerns while she works on her manners

Ora is smart, affectionate, and eager to learn — she just needs the right person willing to continue guiding her and helping her grow into the amazing dog she’s meant to be.

Here is a gift for some of you. If you need Laura’s Venmo for those feet pics, let me know. Stuart loves feet, if you do too, you might be perfect for him.

Aggie is over a year old and still hasn’t found a home, which is wild because he is 27 pounds of top-tier snuggles.

He’s crate trained, an excellent cuddler, and needs entertainment—preferably another dog, because solo boredom leads to creative choices.

Transparency moment: Aggie is a teenager. This means he can be a little spicy about his stuff (resource guarding), occasionally snippy with other dogs, and if left unsupervised while bored, may chew something important. Supervision helps. A lot.

With structure, dog friends, and people who understand that teenage boys are… a phase, Aggie is an amazing dog who just hasn’t been scooped up yet.

If you want a funny, affectionate, slightly chaotic best friend, Aggie is your boy!
