Our friends at Carolina Waterfowl Rescue are running critically low on fresh produce to feed their flock — and we want to help make sure those hundreds of animals get what they need.

We're asking our amazing followers to swing by and drop off any extra produce today or tomorrow — we'll personally get it to the rescue!

✅ Bring (or deliver) your produce to us at 2445 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

🚨 OUR FRIDGE IS NEARLY EMPTY 🚨

We are urgently in need of fresh produce to feed the hundreds of birds in our care a balanced diet. Right now our shelves are bare and we need your help.

Can members of our community stop by today and drop off any donations of produce? Our address is 5403 Poplin Rd and drop-off hours are 8 am to 6 pm daily.

We welcome all nutritious produce except avocados and onions. Leftover produce or that lettuce that’s starting to wilt does not go to waste here.

Some of the best items include:
🥬 Kale, dandelion, romaine, collards
🥕 Carrots, sweet potatoes, squash
🍎 Apples, berries, bananas, melons, pears
🥦 Broccoli, zucchini, peas, chard

If you would rather send groceries, Instacart deliveries are also welcome. Every bit helps keep our birds healthy and thriving.

🌟 PLEASE HELP US FIND A MIRACLE FOR TWO SPECIAL KITTIES🌟

Back in December, our hospital helped with a large TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) event. Among dozens of feral cats, we found two kittens who were immediately purring and desperate for love. They were too sweet, too trusting, too full of life to be thrown back into the colony where they could not be cared for. So we kept them safe here at our hospital.

Shadow and Sunny grown into beautiful, gentle 9-month-old teenagers—and they are still waiting… because of three letters that scare people away: FIV.

💔 Here’s what you NEED to know about FIV:
✅ FIV is NOT a death sentence. Many FIV+ cats live long, healthy, happy lives.
✅ FIV cannot spread to humans or dogs.
✅ FIV+ cats can live safely with other friendly, non-aggressive cats.
✅ FIV simply means a cat has a weakened immune system—but with love, good food, and care, they thrive just like any other cat.

These two kittens are healthy, playful, and overflowing with affection. They chirp and rub against the bars when they see people. They roll over for belly rubs. They are gentle little souls who’ve never known a real home.

While we give them lots of love and playtime - living here forever is not fair to them. They deserve soft beds, sunbeams, windows to watch birds, and a home with a family who will finally love them forever. Every day they wait for a home, and our hearts break for them. We’re trying so hard not to let them become invisible simply because of a virus that doesn’t define who they are.

✨ Please, help us write Shadow and Sunny a happy ending:
-SHARE this post far and wide.
-Tag friends who love cats.
-Open your heart and home if you can.
-Come meet them!

Let’s show the world that FIV+ cats are deserving of love. If you’re interested, or even just curious, please message us or call 803-366-1950. We’ll answer every question you have.

🧡 From all of us at Ebenezer Animal Hospital, thank you for caring.

It's another HOT day!🔥☀️🥵

Did you know when the weather is hot, a dog's paw pads can overheat and become burned or injured from hot surfaces like pavement very quickly? 🐕‍🦺To protect your dog, it's important to be aware of the risk and take precautions like walking your dog on cooler surfaces, using paw protection like booties or wax, and testing pavement temperature before letting your dog walk on it.

Here are some symptoms of burned paw pads:

Redness and swelling: The paw pads may appear red, inflamed, or swollen.

Blisters or peeling: Blisters or peeling skin on the paw pads are a sign of a more serious burn.

Limping or reluctance to walk: If your dog is limping or hesitant to walk, it could indicate paw pad pain.

Excessive licking: Dogs may excessively lick or chew at their paws to try and soothe the pain.

What should you do if your dog's paws are burned?

Move to a cool surface: Get your dog off the hot pavement immediately!

Cool the paws: Run cool (not ice-cold) water over the paws for several minutes.

Seek veterinary care: If the burn is severe or shows signs of infection, consult with a veterinarian.

Preventing paw pad burns:

Walk your dog on grass or shaded areas: Avoid hot pavement, especially during the hottest parts of the day.

Use paw protection: Dog booties or paw wax can create a barrier between the hot pavement and the paw pads.

Check pavement temperature: USE THE "7️⃣ SECOND RULE": if you can't hold your hand on the pavement for seven seconds, it's likely too hot for your dog. 🖐️

🔴If you see any signs of infection, please call us (803-366-1950) or your local vet! 🔴

If a burn is severe, signs of infections like pus, foul odor, or a fever may develop and could lead to more serious problems! ‼️

It's going to be another HOT 🥵🔥week!

Did you know a dog’s normal body temperature is higher than a human’s, with normal being between 100.5 and 102.5 F? 🤔 This puts them more at risk for heatstroke, which occurs when their body temperature reaches 106 F. It only takes an increase of 4 degrees for your dog to die from heatstroke.‼️‼️

The amount of humidity in the air is just as concerning as the heat. Dogs rely on panting to cool their body, and they are not as efficient as people at breathing very humid air.

If it’s more than 70 F outside, especially with high humidity, limit the length of walks with your dog and the amount of time they spend outside. If temperatures are 80–90 F, give only short leashed walks to let them relieve themselves.

If you see the signs of heatstroke, please call us immediately at #803-366-1950 and start cooling your pet off ASAP.

This adorable bundle of fluff had a big day of important firsts to help set them up for a long, healthy life! Here’s what was on the agenda:

🧪 FIV/FeLV Combo Testing
Squash was tested for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV)—two serious viruses that can affect kittens. Good news: negative results! ✅

💉 Vaccines!
FVRCP: This protects against 3 nasty viruses (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia).
Feline Leukemia Vaccine (FeLV): Especially important for young cats, to help keep Squash healthy and strong!

💩 F***l Testing & Deworming
We ran a f***l test to check for intestinal parasites 🪱 (common in kittens!) and gave Squash a dewormer to help keep that tummy happy and worm-free!

🕷️ Flea/Tick/Heartworm Prevention
Even tiny kitties like Squash need protection! We started Squash on safe, effective monthly prevention to guard against fleas, ticks, and heartworms.

🥣 Nutrition Chat
Growing kittens need high-quality food for energy, growth, and a strong immune system—we discussed the best diet for Squash’s development.

🎉 Great job, Squash! Your health journey is off to a fantastic start! 💛

📅 Is your kitten due for their first visit? Call us to schedule—we’ll make it as stress-free (and snuggly) as possible! 🐱💕
