This Labor Day, we’re celebrating the people who show up when their community needs them most. ❤️

In emergency veterinary medicine, the work doesn’t stop - even on the holidays or when a well-deserved break is calling. Our teams continue to care for pets and support their families around the clock because for us, being there for our amazing pet community is truly a labor of love.

To every member of our NorthStar VETS & PASE team working this weekend and every day: thank you for your dedication, compassion, and commitment to the pets who depend on you. We’re incredibly grateful for all that you do. 🙌

Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸

With Labor Day weekend coming up, don’t forget about your furry family members! From backyard BBQs to beach days, a few simple precautions can help keep your pets safe, happy, and ready to enjoy the long weekend with you. 🇺🇸

- Beat the heat: Keep your pets cool with shade, fresh water, & plenty of breaks. Avoid hot pavement & sand.
- Swimming: Never assume your dog is a strong swimmer. Supervise around pools, lakes, & the ocean.
- Saltwater: Prevent your pup from drinking ocean water, which can make them sick.
- Sand: Eating too much sand can cause serious gastrointestinal problems or an intestinal blockage.
- BBQ Foods: Fatty foods, bones, onions, garlic, grapes, raisins, & chocolate can be dangerous for pets.
- Fireworks: Give pets a quiet, secure space during celebrations.
- Alcohol: B**r, cocktails, & other alcoholic drinks can be toxic to animals.

Have a safe and happy Labor Day!
We are open 24/7 and are here for you if you need us! 🫶

Meet Daphne; a true fighter, and living proof of what teamwork in veterinary medicine can accomplish. 💙🐾

Daphne came to her primary vet with a distended, fluid-filled abdomen. Her bloodwork looked relatively normal, but a quick ultrasound scan revealed something wasn't right, and that's when her real journey began. She was referred to NorthStar, where further diagnostics (including the CT imaging you see here) uncovered just how serious her condition truly was. What followed was a critical, complex surgery; the kind where every minute and every decision matters, and where skill, precision, and experience make all the difference between a good outcome and a devastating one.

That's exactly what Dr. Patel brought to Daphne's case. His expertise and calm, decisive care along with the skillful hands of all departments involved in the operating room are the reason Daphne is alive and thriving today. With the support of NorthStar's Dr. Kerrigan, Dr. Theiss, Dr. Yee, and Dr. Sinha, along with their talented techs, they were able to watch her walk out of our hospital and into the arms of her family, which served as a reminder of why we do this work; for moments exactly like this one.

Dr. Mukalian from Medford Animal Hospital noted, "Daphne is definitely a special girl! Thank you for thinking of us, but I think Dr. Patel is the star in her story that saved her! Our exam leading ultimately to her surgery is much less complicated. She came to us with a distended/fluid filled abdomen, relatively normal bloodwork but abnormal findings on a quick ultrasound scan. We referred her to a specialty hospital and from there her true journey began. I did see her today for her recheck and she's doing excellent!"

From a frightening diagnosis to a full recovery, Daphne's story is a testament to what's possible when primary care vets and specialty teams work together; and to the life-saving skill of surgeons like Dr. Patel. Here's to many more happy, healthy years, Daphne! 🎉

Clear the Shelters Month is Here! 🐾🏡

Every pet deserves a loving home, and this month is the perfect opportunity to make a life-changing difference.

Whether you're ready to adopt, foster, volunteer, or donate, your support helps give homeless pets a second chance.

❤️ Not ready to adopt? Consider fostering! Fostering is an incredible way to support local shelters and rescues without the lifelong commitment of adoption. By opening your home temporarily, you help free up valuable shelter space, give pets a chance to thrive in a home environment, and quite literally help save lives.

Before bringing home a new furry family member, remember to:
- Schedule a wellness exam with your primary care veterinarian.
- Plan ahead to keep vaccinations and preventative care up to date.
- Be prepared with a plan should your new companion ever experience an unexpected emergency.

At NorthStar VETS & PASE, we're proud to support the amazing shelters, rescues, foster families, and adopters who give animals the second chance they deserve.

Together, we can help - one adoption, one foster home, and one life at a time. 🐾💙

It's Check the Chip Day! 🐾🏷️

Did you know that a microchip is only as good as the information connected to it?

Today is the perfect reminder to take just a few minutes to:
✔️ Make sure your pet's microchip is registered.
✔️ Verify that your phone number, address, and emergency contacts are up to date.
✔️ Ask your primary care veterinarian to scan your pet's microchip at their next visit to ensure it's working properly.

A collar and ID tag are important, but they can fall off. A microchip is a permanent form of identification that can help reunite you with your pet if they ever become lost.

It only takes a few minutes to check your information, but it could make all the difference in getting your beloved companion home safely.

At NorthStar VETS & PASE, we know emergencies and unexpected escapes can happen. Keeping your pet's microchip information current is one of the simplest ways to protect them.

💙 A quick update today could lead to a happy reunion tomorrow.
