WE’RE COMING HOME!

After what feels like the longest week and a half, we’re finally getting ready to welcome you back to The Toebean this Friday!

We truly cannot thank our community enough for the incredible way you’ve shown up for us. Nearly everything on our Amazon Wish List was purchased and sent to us, and so many of you also sent monetary donations through Venmo.

Because of you, we don’t have to spend money we simply didn’t have to replace all of the things we had to throw away—especially after being closed for two weeks. You saw what we needed, and you took care of it. That means more to us than we can put into words.

And thank you to everyone who has donated not just supplies, but your time and muscle to help us assemble cat trees, furniture, and get everything back into tip-top shape for opening!

You’ve reminded us that The Toebean is so much more than a business. It’s a community—and our community takes care of its own.

So this weekend, we want to give a little something back to YOU!

We are heartbroken to share that Jessie became critically ill and, despite hospitalization, passed away suddenly today. We want to remind everyone that the very first diagnostic test done was a test for panleuk, given the circumstances. The vet did not think it was panleuk on presentation, but we had them test for it anyway. JESSIE WAS PANLEUK NEGATIVE. So, this is the last thing we expected. She had perked up on her IV fluids and we were excited to hopefully have her return to the cafe this week, but that is not how things unfolded.

While her time with us was short, she knew love. Jessie came from a horrendous hoarding situation, and we were grateful to give her a clean, cozy space where she was cherished and cared for. We wish her story could have been different and we are so grateful she knew kindness in her last days.

This past week has been difficult on so many levels. Thank you for your kindness and support. All the messages asking how the kitties are means so much to us. ❤️

Rest easy, sweet Jessie.

***We are still in our 2 week quarantine period and no kitties have shown any symptoms of panleuk at all. We’ve been monitoring them all very closely, and so far so good!***

Our sweet girl, Jessie, was acting lethargic and not wanting to eat. She has an appointment this afternoon and we will keep everyone updated on how that goes. Hopefully, it’s not panleuk.

If Jessie tests positive, the 2 week quarantine starts all over, so let’s hope she tests negative!!

One week of quarantine down and one week to go! (Hopefully!)

Let’s help find Raja his forever home!

Sometimes the best act of love is recognizing that a pet isn't thriving in a particular environment.

Raja was adopted back in May, but he has come back to Star City Cat Rescue. After several months, it became clear that living with a young child just wasn't the right fit for him. The normal noise, quick movements, and unpredictability that come with kids were simply too overwhelming for him.

What we've learned is that Raja would truly flourish in a calm, adult-only home where he can relax and be himself.

And when he's comfortable, his personality shines. Raja is incredibly handsome with a face that's impossible to forget. He's equal parts goofy and affectionate, keeping you entertained with his silly antics one minute and curling up for love the next. He has so much personality and is the kind of cat who forms a special bond with his people.

We're looking for the right homewhere Raja can feel safe, understood, and loved for exactly who he is.
