Thursday evening update. So many shares and so many comments and unfortunately no one came in to meet her today. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for her! Please continue to tag Rescues.
We are begging for help for Rose. π
This girl is struggling, and we are running out of options to keep her comfortable in the shelter environment. Rose does not belong in a kennel. The stress, noise, and constant feeling of being alone are breaking her heart.
Rose is still healing from her injury, and physically she is doing well, but emotionally she is falling apart in the shelter. She cannot settle in her kennel no matter how hard we try. She panics when left alone. She only lasted a few hours at her medical foster home before she pushed through an unstable fence and escaped trying to find comfort and security. Staff members have even taken her home to try to help her decompress, but Rose has broken out of regular dog crates because she desperately wants to be near her people.
This is not a βbad dog.β This is a dog who is terrified of being abandoned again. π
Rose bonds incredibly fast and loves deeply. Once she trusts you, she just wants to stay close. She wants reassurance, affection, safety, and someone who wonβt leave her behind again. We truly cannot blame her for feeling this way after what she has been through.
She is SUCH a sweet girl. She is good with other dogs with a required meet and greet, and despite everything, she continues to be loving and gentle with people. She has not been cat tested yet. Her leg is still healing, so she needs limited activity while she recovers. She would need leash walks for now, especially while adjusting and healing. Once she has bonded with you and if you have a secure fenced yard, she can safely spend supervised time off leash with you outside. However, we would not recommend leaving her unsupervised outdoors anytime soon β honestly, probably ever β because of how fearful she is of being left alone and her history of escaping while panicked.
What Rose needs most is a rescue and a committed foster or adopter willing to give her the stability she desperately needs. A rescue would be ideal because she needs a quieter environment, decompression, and people experienced with helping anxious dogs feel safe again.
If someone is willing to foster Rose, they would need to reach out to a rescue organization willing to pull her for them so she has rescue backing and support while she recovers.
Please, please share Rose everywhere. Tag every rescue you can think of. Network her. Talk about her. Someone out there has the heart and home this girl needs before the shelter stress completely overwhelms her.
She has already been abandoned once. We do not want her to feel forgotten again. ππΎ
