🥵 It’s Getting Hot, Y’all ☀️
Richmond’s heating up, and your pets are feeling it too! With temps climbing into the 90s and that classic RVA humidity hanging heavy in the air, it’s time to take extra steps to keep your furry friends cool and safe.
Swipe through for essential heat safety tips every pet parent should know. ⬇️⬇️
💧 Hydration, Always
Keep water bowls full and clean—add a few ice cubes for a refreshing boost!
🔥 Test the Pavement
Place the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for their paws.
🌅 Time It Right
Exercise pets early in the morning or later in the evening. Avoid the peak heat (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
🏖️ Chill Out
Cooling mats, damp towels, splash pads, shady spots, and kiddie pools are summer lifesavers.
🚗 Never Leave Pets in Cars
Even with windows cracked, temps rise fast—and it can be deadly.
😓 Watch for Signs of Heat Stress
Excessive panting, drooling, or slowing down? Get them cooled off and contact your vet if symptoms escalate.
