🌞 Beat the Heat Summer Fitness Series 🌞

Looking for a fun way to keep your dog active and prepared for fall trial season while staying out of the summer heat?

This summer I will be offering a series of canine fitness and conditioning workshops designed to help dogs develop strength, body awareness, balance, coordination, and overall athletic fitness.

Topics may include:
🐾 Warm-up and cool-down routines
🐾 Core strength and stability
🐾 Balance and body awareness
🐾 Position changes and functional movement
🐾 Front and rear limb strength
🐾 Acceleration and deceleration
🐾 Jumping fitness and mechanics
🐾 Conditioning for the canine athlete
🐾 Fitness for puppies, active competitors, and senior dogs

These workshops are designed for agility, rally, obedience, and active companion dogs. Exercises will focus on building a stronger, more coordinated athlete and helping handlers understand how to safely condition their dogs outside of regular training sessions.

I am currently consulting with a canine physical rehabilitation people to help ensure the exercises and progressions are appropriate and beneficial for sport dogs.

Please note: These workshops are intended for conditioning, strength development, body awareness, and injury prevention. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, or rehabilitate injuries or medical conditions. Dogs with existing injuries or health concerns should work directly with their veterinarian and rehabilitation team.

Each workshop will be approximately 2 hours and include demonstrations, hands-on practice, and exercises you can continue at home. Possible Days will be Thursdays midday or Sundays midday or evening.

Who would be interested in participating? What fitness topics would you most like to learn about?

I am considering developing a trainer/assistant instructor mentorship program through Connected Performance Dog Training and wanted to see if there is any interest.

This opportunity would be for someone who is interested in learning more about dog training both agility and rally if desired, teaching skills, class structure, training progression, and eventually assisting or teaching my foundation-level classes.

Initially, this would involve helping one day per week with things such as:
β€’ course setup and teardown, and sending out weekly homework.
β€’ Demonstrating exercises as needed
β€’ Assisting students during class
β€’ Learning the Connected Performance training system
β€’ Helping with workshops, fun matches, and special events

The best days for this: Wednesdays since I have a long day with a variety of levels, Thursdays have rally and novice classes, and in particular Sundays as I will be adding a foundation 1 class and possibly a fitness for agility class. I have a competition, a novice competition and a beginning novice class in the am. That day there will be a gap between classes in am and pm due to heat but that may a good opportunity to set course send out homework for the week and discuss training in depth. The right person may have opportunities to take on a larger role teaching foundation-level classes on Mondays Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the future.

You do not need to be an advanced agility competitor. I am much more interested in finding someone who is reliable, enjoys helping people, communicates well, has a positive attitude, and has a genuine interest in learning.

This is not a formal instructor position at this time, but rather an opportunity to learn, grow, and explore whether becoming more involved in teaching and training might be a good fit.

If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please send me a private message and tell me a little about yourself, your dog(s), your training experience, and what interests you about the opportunity.

πŸΎπŸ† A truly special day in the agility ring this weekend! πŸ†πŸΎ

Today, Pearl earned her CPE Agility Championship (C-ATCH) on a Snooker course! To make the moment even sweeter, Q, owned by Marlene Iacometti and trialed by me, earned his championship on that very same course.

Considering I only attend one or two CPE trials a year, this accomplishment feels especially meaningful.

Pearl is nearing retirement from active competition, so every run with her carries a little extra significance. She has been such an incredible partner throughout the years, earning multiple agility championships in NADAC, an agility championship in ASCA, and now adding a CPE championship to her impressive resume. Watching her continue to do what she loves is something I never take for granted.

Q’s journey has been equally rewarding. He earned his NADAC championship just a month or so ago and is quickly closing in on his ASCA championship as well. The growth, confidence, and partnership he has developed have been so much fun to be a part of.

And Angel is right on their heels she needs just one more jumpers Qualifying run for her C-ATCH, and making steady progress toward several other championships across multiple venues.

I feel incredibly fortunate to be entrusted with such talented, dedicated dogs and to share these journeys with their owners. Weekends like this remind me why I love this sport so much.

Congratulations, Pearl and Q! β€οΈπŸΎπŸŽ‰πŸ…
