Mavis K9 Academy We provide canine training services for all breeds of dogs. We conduct in home consultations as well as in home training sessions.

If that is not an option, we can pick your dog up and train them. After we are finished, we will bring your dog home.

Bo has his nose to the grindstone and is hard at work in our Board & Train program! This handsome Coonhound is soaking up everything he can learn—and doing it with plenty of enthusiasm.

Like any true Coonhound, Bo knows exactly how to use those impressive lungs of his. If determination had a soundtrack, Bo would gladly provide it! 🎶🐶

What we love most about Bo is his drive. He approaches every challenge with a “I’ve got this!” attitude and isn’t afraid to put in the work. Whether he’s learning new skills, building better habits, or showing off his natural talents, Bo gives it 100% every single day.

We can’t wait to see how much this determined guy accomplishes during his time with us. Keep up the great work, Bo—we’re all rooting for you! ❤️🐾

🌟 Meet Aria! 🌟

With her ears up and her eyes focused, Aria is ready to learn whatever comes next! She has joined us for our Board and Train program, and we couldn’t be more excited to work with this amazing girl.

Aria holds a special place in our hearts because she was adopted from IACS and was fortunate enough to find a loving family that saw her for who she truly is. Every day, she is proving that a dog’s future is not determined by where they came from, but by the opportunities, guidance, and love they receive.

One of the things we love most about Aria is how perfectly she represents the complete opposite of the stereotypes often associated with her breed. She is intelligent, eager to learn, affectionate, and full of potential. Dogs like Aria remind us that breeds do not define character—individual dogs do.

We are honored to be part of her journey and help showcase the incredible qualities that make her so special. Aria is not only learning new skills, but she is also helping change perceptions and showing the world just how amazing her breed can be.

Meet Baxter! 🐾👃

We are having an absolute blast working with Baxter on his AKC Scent Work! He is absolutely crushing the wagon wheel setup and showing off just how smart and focused he can be.

Scent work is such an amazing outlet for intelligent dogs like Baxter. It gives them a chance to use their natural instincts, build confidence, and stay positively stimulated while having a ton of fun. Watching that “I found it!” moment never gets old!

Baxter continues to impress us every session with his drive, enthusiasm, and big brain energy. We are so proud of this awesome boy and can’t wait to see how far he goes! 🐶💨

What do you do when you own a ridiculously overpriced military-grade communications headset?

Simple.
You put it on your dog and let her start calling in airstrikes on the neighborhood cats. 🎧🐾💥

Target acquired.
Multiple hostile cats moving along the tree line.
Requesting immediate snack support and close air biscuit.”

Mavis intensely scans the backyard.

“Be advised… targets are agile, unpredictable, and likely to move quickly into the woods.”

At this point, Mavis is taking her Tactical Air Controller duties way too seriously.
Amazon drivers are now “unknown approaching vehicles.”
The mailman is considered a “persistent threat.”
And every cat in a three-house radius apparently requires immediate CAS authorization. 😂

The headset may have cost way too much…
but watching Mavis coordinate backyard combat operations like a four-legged JTAC?

Today is not just about a long weekend, cookouts, or the unofficial start of summer. Today is about remembering the brave men and women who gave everything for something greater than themselves.

Memorial Day is a reminder that freedom has never been free. Behind every flag waving proudly in the wind is a story of sacrifice, courage, loss, and love. Countless families carry an empty seat at the table because someone they loved answered the call and never came home.

As we spend time with our families today, let us take a moment to truly reflect on the price that was paid for the lives we are blessed to live. Remember those who fell. Remember the families they left behind. Remember that their sacrifice deserves more than a passing thought.

Honor them not only with words, but by living with gratitude, compassion, and purpose.

May we never forget the heroes who gave their tomorrows for our todays. 🇺🇸

Today is National Rescue Dog Day, and we’re proud to celebrate one of our own — Blitz. ❤️

Rescue dogs are such a huge part of why we do what we do. They remind us every single day that healing, trust, loyalty, and love can grow even after hardship. Some arrive scared, overlooked, broken, or misunderstood… yet somehow they still choose to love with their whole heart.

Blitz represents what second chances are all about. 🐾

Meet Ranger! 🐾

Just like the U.S. Army Ranger motto says, “Rangers Lead the Way!” — and Ranger definitely lives up to the name. Strong, driven, intelligent, and always ready for action, he is an incredible example of why understanding breed traits is so important when choosing a dog.

Every breed was created with a purpose. Some dogs are naturally calm and easygoing, while others, like Ranger, are built for work, adventure, and constant mental and physical stimulation. When those needs are understood and fulfilled, these dogs absolutely thrive.

Ranger is here learning how to channel all of that drive and energy into being the best companion possible. He’s a reminder that success with dogs doesn’t come from “fixing” them — it comes from understanding them.

Choosing the right breed for your lifestyle can make all the difference for both the dog and the family. When expectations, training, structure, and genetics all work together, amazing things happen.

It’s easy to get caught up in bad days, stress, and frustration. But then you spend time with a dog like Miss Gladys, and suddenly the world feels a little lighter. ❤️

Dogs have an incredible way of reminding us what really matters. So many of them have been through heartbreak, neglect, abandonment, and tragedy… yet they still wake up every day ready to love, trust, play, and enjoy the little things in life. Their resilience is nothing short of inspiring.

Miss Gladys is one of those special souls who reminds us that happiness doesn’t have to be complicated. A wagging tail, a kind word, a walk outside, or simply being loved can mean everything.

Maybe the world would be a better place if people learned to live a little more like dogs — forgiving more, loving harder, and finding joy in the simple moments. We are incredibly lucky to share our lives with these amazing animals and to learn from them every single day. 🐾✨

Some time ago, we made a commitment to help several shelter dogs find the loving homes they deserve by offering free board and train programs. Gladys was one of those lucky girls, and seeing her today reminds us exactly why we do what we do. ❤️

It has been a few months since her adoption, and Gladys is absolutely thriving! She is the sweetest girl who never misses an opportunity to show everyone just how amazing she is. Her loving personality, eagerness to please, and joyful spirit make her an incredible companion and an exemplary representative of her breed.

Stories like Gladys’ are proof that with patience, guidance, and love, shelter dogs can become some of the very best family members imaginable. We are so proud of her journey and so grateful to the family who gave her the second chance she deserved.

Meet Porter! 🐾

Porter is out at Lowe’s showing off all the hard work he’s been putting into his training! This happy guy is one week into our board and train program and already doing an amazing job.

One of the best parts of training is watching not only the dog learn, but the family grow right alongside them. Porter’s family is working hard during their one-week lesson, learning the tools and communication that will help Porter continue to succeed at home.

We are so proud of Porter’s progress, confidence, and enthusiasm. The future is looking bright for this awesome boy! 🐶✨
