A program of Providence Animal Center, Fido Fixers has leased 10 mobile units since 2012, bringing spay/neuter to high-need communities across the U.S. Fido Fixers’ mission is to provide low-cost spay and neuter services for dogs and cats in economically distressed areas, mostly in the Southern United States using surgical mobile clinics. ers was developed in 2012 by Lisa Wysocki and Suzanne Steinberg after they became increasingly frustrated with the seemingly never-ending supply of unwanted pets in high-kill shelters, especially in the Southeastern part of the United States. Lisa and Suzanne were convinced that the most important action they could take to end the loss of life was to begin a spay and neuter program in the communities with the worst dog and cat overpopulation problems. Our qualified partners agree to provide at least 200 spay and neuter surgeries a month, working four days a week with a dedicated vet. They lease the mobile clinic, directly from Fido Fixers, after signing a one-year agreement for $1 per month. Fido Fixers covers vehicle insurance, repairs, property taxes and DMV costs directly related to the mobile clinic. Our Fido Fixers partner, Planned PEThood of GA welcomed 21 community cats aboard their FIDO mobile surgery unit for TNVR today! Every surgery helps prevent unwanted litters, reduce community cat populations over time, and keep more animals out of shelters.

For decades, animal welfare has focused on saving animals after they enter shelters.

Today, we must place just as much emphasis on preventing unwanted litters before they are born.

Across the country, veterinary shortages, rising costs, long waitlists, and the loss of affordable spay/neuter programs are making surgery harder to access.

When families can't find or afford an appointment, pets remain unaltered, accidental litters increase, and already overwhelmed shelters feel the impact.

This is why spay and neuter must remain at the center of the national conversation about pet homelessness.

We cannot adopt our way out of pet overpopulation.

Rescue and adoption are essential, but they address the crisis after animals are already born. Accessible spay/neuter addresses it at the source.

Every surgery means:

When disaster strikes, access to veterinary care shouldn't disappear.

In June, a tornado devastated the Animal Protective League's shelter and clinic in Springfield, Illinois. Surgeries were canceled, and a community suddenly found itself without a place to turn.

That's where Fido Fixers stepped in.

One of our mobile spay/neuter clinics made the journey from Massachusetts to Illinois, bringing a fully equipped operating room on wheels so APL can continue providing affordable, high-quality spay/neuter services while they rebuild.

This is exactly why Fido Fixers exists. Our fleet is more than nine mobile clinics. It's a national network that can adapt, respond, and help keep lifesaving services available when communities need them most.

🚐 BIG NEWS: CCSN is partnering with Fido Fixer!

This is one of the most exciting opportunities we've had in a long time. There may have been a few tears of joy when we realized this was actually happening.

Special thanks to Fido Fixers, Good Shepherd Humane Society, and Rural Humane for helping make this opportunity possible. Their commitment to prevention, collaboration, and expanding access to care is exactly the kind of work that creates lasting change.

One of the biggest things we've learned over the years is that most people want to get their pets fixed. The challenge is access.

Sometimes it's transportation. Sometimes it's cost. And sometimes it's because a family has spent years caring for animals that others abandoned, and what started as one unaltered female cat or dog has turned into dozens.

No matter the reason, the result is the same: people who want to do the right thing often struggle to access the care they need.

That's why we're excited about our partnership with Fido Fixer.

Fido Fixer is a mobile spay/neuter clinic program that partners with animal welfare organizations to bring services directly into the communities that need them. Instead of asking people to travel to care, we can bring care closer to them.

It's an opportunity to reach communities that have historically had limited access to services, remove barriers, and create solutions that work for real people facing real challenges.

It's about prevention in action.

One of the things that has surprised us most is how enthusiastic community leaders have been about bringing these services into their communities. People understand the need, and they're excited to be part of the solution.

By expanding access to affordable spay/neuter services, together we can reduce unwanted litters, support families, improve animal welfare outcomes, and create healthier communities.
