Thanks to the author of this! Keeping the peace for yourself and your barn is crucial. 🙌🏼❤️

As a barn owner, the hardest line you’ll ever draw is the boundary of who you allow in and who you allow to stay.

A friendly reminder to my fellow trainers (and any horse person in general)-

-Nobody is worth your peace of mind..if they cost you your peace, kick them out!

- No one can buy your trust, when you see their true actions...believe them.

- If they can’t respect you or the facility, they need to leave.

- No amount of money is worth harboring negative energy in your work and play atmosphere.

I am done trying to hatch bad eggs. I am no longer willing to try to fix, help, slave or suffer for those not willing to give the same effort or at the least carry themselves with class and integrity.

Say it with me friends:

Your barn, your rules. And your happy place. If they don’t like it, they can leave.

Customer service should not feel like slavery. You shouldn’t feel uncomfortable when people pull into your barn driveway. Stick to your guts. And your boundaries. 💕

One of my favorite pictures from the show—maybe even my favorite.
The first thing that stands out is the balance it captures. You can see the lightness and joy between horse and human, but the photo doesn’t fully show how locked in, committed, and focused the rider was. She was completely dedicated to giving this mare a confident, positive experience during her first big outing. You need both: unwavering focus and commitment, along with lightness and joy.
But my favorite part of this picture is something you can’t really see.
It’s the love, trust, and guidance this mare has with me. While she was leaning into me, I could feel her heart rate slow, her nervous system settle, and her mind become quiet.
What makes that so special is that I hardly ever ride this horse. Her owner has done an incredible job bringing her along under my guidance. Even though I haven’t spent much time in the saddle with her, she’s felt my consistency, my love, and my trust through the work we’ve done on the ground and through my role as her teacher.
We often talk about how much riders affect their horses—and that’s absolutely true. But the person coaching them has an impact too. Horses learn from every consistent, trustworthy interaction, whether it’s from the saddle or the ground

We had a wonderful time at Woodside Show Series
The energy was calm, the horses felt safe, the venue was beautiful, and the staff was incredibly welcoming.

Since this was our first time bringing our horses here, both our riders and horses really stepped up and embraced the challenge.
The highlight for us was seeing how much our horses trusted us, looking to us for guidance and support as they navigated each new experience.

Everyone left feeling accomplished, fulfilled, and inspired-with plenty of homework to keep building on what we learned. We can’t wait to come back!

Taking the time to build the trust, the predictably, the consistency, is what matters. You will never convince me otherwise.
