- this past Friday I saw *TWO* different entire families to booster all of their pets rabies vaccines....why the urgency you ask? Well, in both instances, a bat had gotten into the house and had interacted with the pets and humans - so everyone (humans included!) had to get rabies exposure prevention!

Bats can be carriers of this deadly virus, so any direct encounter with them is considered an exposure risk - and you would be surprised that this happens more than you think! Rabies is truly deadly - if you are bitten by a rabid animal, you will die. Period. So that's why we are so cautious about any potential exposures and why this vaccine is legally required!

Thankfully, everyone in both of these families is ok....but...what an excellent reminder - this is the *WHY* - the reason we recommend rabies vaccines for even those indoor cats. You think it will never happen to you, until it does.

So PSA - even indoor only kitties should be kept up to date on their rabies vaccines! 🚨. Enjoy our dramatic reenactment and special thanks to our amazing clients who go along with my educational nonsense 😂

Today we are hosting another grief support session at PRAH - we know how hard it is to lose a pet, so we created this program to provide support to our clients while navigating the loss of a beloved furry family member.

Whether you just lost a pet, or it's been some time, or you are preparing for a loss and dealing with a sick/elderly pet - this session is a place to receive support from like-minded people.

It may be late in the day, but I don't want to miss celebrating Tori and her 3rd today!!!

I can't believe it's been 3 years since Tori joined our team at PRAH! She has been such a wonderful addition to our nursing squad! Tori is the type of person who is just always ready to help...she will readily bounce around between helping in rooms, helping up front, helping downstairs...basically whoever needs help - Tori is always ready with a can-do attitude!

Tori is one of our strong nurses in our nurse appointments as well - and does a wonderful job educating our clients and managing her own schedule. It's wonderful to see our nurses like Tori build their own relationships with our clients, and she has quite a few who ask for her when scheduling...which I think just goes to show that they can also tell how much she cares!

And you can truly tell that she cares...Tori wants to help every patient that comes through our hospital, and will go above and beyond to help them whenever she can! Her nursing skills are also top notch, and she is an extremely hard worker, with a big heart and tons of compassion!

Tori also volunteers with Harley's Haven, and has joined the foster fail club a few times now with her furry critters at home...who keep her busy! (and the humans too!) :)

Thank you, Tori - for being you, and for being a wonderful part of our nursing team! We appreciate you very much, and have enjoyed watching you grow these past 3 years...here's to many more!! Happy !!

Happy birthday to one of our newer nurses, Sam!!

No, we don't see hawks here...but how cool is this picture? Sam has been such a joy to add to our nursing team, and has slid right in like she has always been here!
We hope she is being spoiled today and enjoying her special day - happy birthday Sam!!

Holly was in recently for an ear infection...and was so adorable rocking her safety goggles with Sammie and Renee!

Why are they wearing safety goggles? Well they are an important part of protecting our team and our patients when we are performing therapeutic laser treatments! Our laser is a wonderful resource for things like ear infections!

The laser helps with improving blood flow to decrease inflammation, and it helps stimulate the cells to promote healing! It's an easy, safe, and non-invasive way to help our patients feel better, sooner!

Ask us about it next time you are in....we use it for ear infections, hot spots, skin infections, orthopedic issues like limping, or for longterm use with arthritis, and so much more!!

Guess what?? We have KITTENS for adoption again!!

Meet our Mediterranean Snack Pack!

Chickpea, Garbanzo, Hummus, Falafel, and Pita are officially available for adoption and ready to find families of their very own!

These five handsome boys are approximately 11 weeks old and have been busy growing, exploring, playing, and settling in. Each one has its own little personality, but they all share the same kitten essentials: curiosity, sweetness, playfulness, and the ability to melt your heart with one tiny look.

Now that they are ready for their next chapter, we would love to help them find homes where they can continue to grow into confident, loved companions.

Their adoption fee is $175 and includes:
• Kitten vaccine series (FVRCP, feline rabies)
• Triple Snap test
• F***l testing and deworming
• Neuter
• Microchip with lifetime registration

We also want to share that there are six additional kittens from the same location who may be looking for placement. We do not currently have them in our care and do not yet know their genders, but we are happy to accept applications from anyone interested in being considered for one of those kittens as more information becomes available - especially if all of these guys get adopted!

🎉We have a BIG today! We are celebrating 12 Years of Kira! 🎉

This year marks an incredible milestone—12 years with Pennridge Animal Hospital for our amazing Practice Manager, Kira!

Kira is so much more than a manager. She is a leader, an advocate for our team, a trusted partner in guiding our hospital, and the person who helps keep everything running smoothly day after day. She genuinely cares about our employees, our clients, and every patient who comes through our doors. Whether she's helping team members feel heard, guiding practice goals, managing projects, or jumping in to solve problems, Kira is always there when we need her! She is a master at putting out any dumpster fire! :)

I always like to remember how we first met Kira, before PRAH was even in existance! Jen and I met Kira at our previous practice and knew she was someone special. We told her that once we got Pennridge up and running, we'd have a place for her. She took a leap of faith, worked several jobs while we built the hospital, and officially joined our team in 2014 - and we are so grateful she did!

Starting as a veterinary nurse, Kira worked her way up to a leadership role and eventually became our Practice Manager. Through every challenge, success, and stage of growth, she has been a driving force behind Pennridge Animal Hospital.

In addition to leading the team at PRAH, Kira has a special soft spot for Great Danes and has been an integral part of Harley's Haven for years. From helping lead rescue efforts and supporting our community outreach clinics both locally and in Nicaragua, to fostering some of the sickest and most vulnerable animals, she consistently goes above and beyond to make a difference. ❤️

After 12 years, we truly cannot imagine Pennridge Animal Hospital or Harley's Haven without her. Thank you, Kira, for your dedication, leadership, compassion, and unwavering commitment to our team, our patients, and our mission!

We also have a today!! Laurie is celebrating 5 years as part of our team at PRAH!! I can't believe it's been 5 years!

Laurie is the best - she has the most amazing calm spirit and presence about her. She has a wealth of experience in vet med, and it shows in how well she handles any situation! She is fantastic in the rooms with clients - spending the time needed to educate them on the 'why' behind our recommendations, and is always willing to give them the time they need to feel heard.

She is also excellent with our patients - her nursing skills are top notch, and she is soothing and positive, with even the most scared patient. She has a way about her, that you can just tell that working with animals is what she is meant to do!

Outside of work, this theme continues with the animals on the beautiful farm she calls home - and she lovingly cares for her horses, dogs, and kitties alike! Plus she has some adorable grandkids to keep her busy!

We are so grateful for the experience and knowledge that Laurie brings to our team - she has been instrumental in teaching any new nurses at PRAH - and vet med needs nurses like Laurie to help make sure we hold onto the core values that make vet med special. And that keep PRAH the special place that it is too!

So today - we celebrate you Laurie!! Thank you so much for being a part of our team for 5 years - here's to many more! Happy my friend!
