The Power of Puppy Socialization 🐾

Did you know that the first few weeks your puppy spends at home are some of the most important for shaping their future behavior and confidence?

In his book “Before & After Getting Your Puppy”, Dr. Ian Dunbar recommends that your pup meet at least 100 different people in their first month at home. This means introducing them to a wide variety of individuals—tall, short, young, old, from different ethnic backgrounds, and even people wearing glasses, hats, carrying umbrellas, using canes, or in wheelchairs.

Why so many?
Because early exposure to different sights, smells, and experiences helps your puppy grow into a well-rounded, friendly, and confident dog. Without this critical socialization window, fear and reactivity can develop later in life.

One of the easiest (and most fun!) ways to make sure your puppy meets this goal is by attending puppy classes. Not only do they get to meet other puppies and people, but you’ll also be building their training foundation at the same time.

Start early, socialize often, and set your pup up for a lifetime of confidence and joy. 🐶✨

🤔 Why should I send my dog to day school?

Day School is great for dogs who:
▶️ Stay home while you have to go to work all day
▶️ Are young with tons of energy to burn off
▶️ Are nervous and needing to gain confidence
▶️ Are displaying boredom behaviors like destruction and excess barking
▶️ Are young and need to learn important life skills

❓️How is it different from regular dog daycare❓️

Day School is an enrichment program designed to fulfill all of your dogs daily needs like social interaction and multiple types of mental enrichment throughout the day.

We also have a heavy focus on noticing each dogs individual play styles, energy levels, and play stamina. We have groups of 5 or less which allows us to give each dog the attention they deserve.

We give frequent recharge breaks to reduce stress and overstimulation, a common issue in larger commercial daycares.

The pups also get to work through multiple food puzzles during solo enrichment time and each day they get a lunchtime snack which involves new or fun foods in a treat ball which provides another form of mental enrichment. Our enrichment coordinator, Kristin Jo Rogers, is a master chef when it comes to treat recipes!

At the end of the day, your dog will go home fulfilled and happy so that you can both enjoy a quiet evening together. 😊🐶
