We offer a variety of programs which are certified by the American Kennel Club (AKC): basic, intermediate, & advance obedience training; AKC Trick Dog; and specialized training: Emotional Support Dog, Service Dog, & Behavior Rehabilitation. All training is done using positive-reinforcement techniques that focus on encouraging the behavior wanted through a system of praise and rewards. Dogs using p
ositive reinforcement are easier to train and retrain what they are taught better than any other method. We do not use choke chains, prong collar, or electric collars. Each basic, intermediate, & advance obedience group training class is 6 weeks in duration. We meet once a week for 1 hour and you are given homework exercises. Most dogs start with Level 1 Training which includes basic skills such as sit, down, stay, come, loose-leash walking, paying attention to you when distracted, leave-It (food, clothing, or stop unwanted behavior) and socialization (behaving around other people & dogs). Training also incorporates a stimulating dog confidence course consisting of many challenging obstacles. Learning to navigate the different obstacles, builds the dog’s confidence, judgement, and enables them to use their developed skills to better cope with other environments outside the class. It further teaches family members how to best communicate with their dog(s) while participating in enjoyable activities that are fun for both dogs and people. Your dog can continue to build their skills as they progress from one level to the next (intermediate, advance, etc.) and earn additional AKC Awards signifying their successful accomplishment of each level. The result is a well-behaved dog the owner can be proud to take anywhere.
