Cat Town alum Crowley (formerly Tristan) was adopted back in 2015, and he has some exciting news: he’s a Spanish cat now! Crowley and his family moved to Valencia in 2023, and he’s doing great. His family recently reached out with an update, and Crowley sent a thank you to our staff and wonderful volunteers for all the work that goes into helping cats like him!

We’re so happy to hear that Crowley is still thriving with his people more than a decade after being adopted. We love hearing from Cat Town alumni, no matter how many years have passed! 🐾 Cece is up for adoption! At 12 years old, Cece knows exactly what she wants: quality time with her favorite people, plenty of affection, and your undivided attention. Cece is also our Cat of the Month!

This tortie lovebug will gaze directly into your eyes, and remind you with a little meow that your phone or laptop really can wait. She’ll greet you, follow you around the house, and lounge beside you — or preferably on your chest! Her foster describes her as “a lover through and through.”

As a senior, Cece has a couple of health needs to monitor. She has mild heart disease that currently requires no medication or diet changes. But her wholehearted companionship makes one thing clear: in her eyes, her person is the most important being in the world. Could that be you? Meet Cat Town's 2026 Co-Mayors! After a distinguished term marked by naps, photo ops, and absolutely no official responsibilities, Mayor Jojo is preparing to leave office. Her successors, Shiru and Toncatsu, are ready to take over.

As Cat Town Mayor there are no meetings to attend. No ribbon cuttings. No policy briefs. In fact, there are no duties whatsoever. This year, that proud tradition continues with our new Co-Mayors. Read all about Shiru and Toncatsu's path to office on our blog:

Cirrus, Nimbus, Gazelle, and Blaze are just a few of the cats who have found a home so far this month! Brothers Nimbus and Cirrus are a sweet, social pair who needed a new home after their guardian moved away. They found a safe space to land at Cat Town, and just a few weeks later, they found their person.

What inspires you about Cat Town's mission?

Cat Town relies on the support of many individual donors to save the lives of at-risk cats, and find them homes. It is a privilege to do this work, and to have a compassionate community standing with us and saving these lives. Join us for our next Cello Serenade at Cat Town on October 30! Mix and mingle with our cats with a hauntingly beautiful cello serenade. Local cellist Susanna Porte will fill the Adoption Center with music in tune with the season of spookiness.

Doors open at 6pm. Musical performance from 6:30 – 7:30pm. You’ll have plenty of time before and after the music to mingle with adoptable cats — and every ticket helps support the cats in our care.

Angelita wants to share a reminder that she is officially on the market and accepting proposals from adopters.

She may play it cool when you meet her at our Adoption Center, but behind that shy-girl energy is a sweetheart cat really feeling ready for her person or family. She has been waiting patiently for exactly 4 months, but who’s counting.

Angelita may not show her full personality during a first meet-and-greet, but this 6-year-old is a genuine angel who loves soft pets and rolling around for attention. She’s seeking a patient adopter who can offer her gentle reassurance and let her open up in her own time.

Angelita is a demure queen who adores soft head and cheek pets, and prefers a slow approach, from both people and other cats. She might be ok with another carefully matched cat and would enjoy a nice balance of affection and interactive play time with her humans.

Cat Town's roster just got cuter! Lunchbox has entered the room. This 5-year-old cutie is new to Cat Town and is still getting used to her new surroundings. She's feeling a little shy as she settles in, and we're giving her the time she needs at our Adoption Center to feel safe.

Lunchbox is exactly the kind of cat Cat Town exists for. We believe every cat deserves a chance to thrive. And together, we save the lives of at-risk cats like Lunchbox, find them loving homes, and advocate for a future where every cat is valued.

While Lunchbox isn't ready for adoption just yet, you can visit her and our other cats at our Adoption Center Thursday through Sunday.

📢 Cat Town is looking for people with real cat experience to join our foster volunteer pool in Oakland!

While fostering experience is wonderful, it’s not required. We’re also looking for people who have spent years caring for their own cats and feel comfortable helping cats with a little extra TLC.

Some of the cats who need us most just need a little more time: they are shy adults, seniors, cats recovering from medical issues, or cats who need extra patience as they adjust to a home environment.

Our ideal foster can offer:
• A calm, predictable household with minimal commotion
• A separate room where a new foster can decompress (a spare bedroom or office is ideal, though a large bathroom can work for many cats)
• Patience with shy, stressed, or undersocialized cats
• Comfort caring for cats with medical and/or behavioral needs (we’ll provide guidance and support)
• Careful observation and communication with our foster team
• A home in Oakland or a neighboring city so our team can provide hands-on support when needed

We provide all food, litter, medical care, and other supplies, along with training and ongoing support—you provide the safe landing spot that helps these cats relax, heal, and prepare for their forever homes.

Meet Thomas, who’s spending some time in the Quiet Zone at our Adoption Center! You may have already seen that we have seasonal decor up for Halloween — the pumpkins are a hit with the cats.

Thomas is a gentle, tender-hearted 2-year-old still learning the world can be a kind place after life on the streets. He starts off shy, but if you're patient and perceptive, he leans into soft petting and relaxes. This sweet boy feels ​safest with confident, friendly cats nearby. He seeks them out for comfort and reassurance in the Quiet Zone, which has really helped him feel safe and build up his bravery.

Cat Town is dedicated to helping shy, uncertain cats like Thomas who need extra calm, quiet care while they figure out the next leg of their journey home.​
