A shelter is no place to grow up.

Mowgli came to HSCI as a young puppy, full of potential and puppy energy. But shelter life—with all its loud sounds, unfamiliar faces, and constant commotion—has been hard on him.

Now 9 months old, Mowgli is growing up in a place that isn’t meant to be forever. While he’s silly, sweet, and affectionate with the people he trusts, the constant noise and activity have made it difficult for him to relax and truly thrive.

It’s giving “first-day-of-school portrait” and we’re here for it. Meet Mowgli, our 9-month-old pit mix who looks like he just wrapped up a JCPenney photoshoot and is ready to model his way right into your heart!

Mowgli might come off a little shy at first, but once he gets comfy, he’s 100% love bug. He’s a fan of crinkly toys, tug-of-war ropes, and all the outdoor fun—and yes, he does pose this well in real life too.

Come in tomorrow from 2-7pm to meet Mowgli! His adoption fee is $125 this week only!

We love seeing creative updates from our adopters, and this one is extra special! One of our 2022 alumni—a beautiful rabbit, Mandy—has fully blossomed in her forever home and is living her best life as the queen of the house.

Her family shared that she rules with grace (and probably a bit of sass!), and they are her loyal and adoring subjects. Since her adoption, she has completely changed their world—and they, in turn, have changed hers.
