Unfortunately Newt is back!

His family lived in a shared home with lots of people coming/going and that was too much for Newt. He needs a calmer environment where he can build confidence and be with his people!

Here’s some info about cutie Newty:

He is a 2 1/2 year old male Catahoula leopard dog mix (he is dna tested and that is attached above), he weighs about 56 lbs!

His blue and brown eyes, and gorgeous unique coat make him one of a kind and oh-so-cute!!

Newt is super easy to leash and walk, and he truly just wants to stick by your side. When taken on a field trip he enjoyed a hike and fell asleep in the volunteers lap and enjoyed a much needed nap! He loves to be close to his people and enjoys leaning up against you to get loves! Newt is overall pretty calm and quiet!

He bonds to people quickly! Whoever adopts him will have a bestie and a ride or die! He looks to his people for reassurance and definitely prefers attention/affection over treats or toys!

Newt did well in many dog tests. He’s calm and neutral and great at giving dogs space. However, more overzealous and in-your-face dogs can be a bit too much for Newt. He would probably prefer another calm, polite, and respectful companion!

He does well with kids, dogs, and livestock, and is a total snuggle bug! Good in the car, but will try to sneak into the front seat with you, so best to seatbelt him into the back!

Come meet this adorable boy and you will absolutely fall in love!

From his first adopter:

He’s a friendly guy and LOVES his person.
He is eager to learn and does well with a job. He is great with older kids, dogs, cats, and horses.

He would do well in a slow paced and quiet home and with an owner that has time to build confidence with.

Meet Denver!

Denver is a 1 year old male dachshund mix! He weighs about 32lbs!

He is a very sweet and handsome boy! He was unsure at first at the rescue but has really come out of his shell! He gets so excited to see us and loves to go outside and explore!

Denver has tested well with all dogs except for one, which was a puppy who was very overbearing and wasn’t picking up on social cues- which who can blame him? Even as people we don’t love every person we meet. So, a meet and greet with other dogs in the home is required just to ensure it’s a good fit!

When taken on a field trip we were told:

Denver was very sweet. He enjoyed the park a lot and once he got the hang of it he also had a blast in the forest. He is a little anxious about new things, but with patience would adjust. He is also very calm and would cuddle up in the car for comfort. Once he trusted you he was happy to be around you.

Meet Hudson!

He is a 6 month old male Doberman mix who weighs about 27 lbs! He came to us from California and we are working on helping him gain some weight!

This extremely handsome young boy is a whirlwind of energy packed into a sleek, slightly goofy package. One ear stands tall and alert, while the other flopped endearingly, a testament to his mixed heritage and endless charm.

When taken on a field trip we were told:

“ Hudson is amazing! We took him on a fieldtrip today and it was really hard to take him back!

He is the sweetest dude! He melts into your lap and cuddles. He has the goofiest ears! I’m pretty sure he is doberman mixed with a baby deer, because those long, lanky limbs are just too much! He folds like a pretzel! He is about 5 months old and already so tall!

He did great with the cat. He approached her slowly and carefully, sniffed her, and walked away. He paid no attention to a caged rodent. He did well with our husky. There was a little orneryness when they first met and while he was eating, but he settled quickly and easily.

He LOVED hanging out in our shop and stayed close by while exploring the property.

He doesn’t jump into the car on his own but doesn’t ming being picked up and put inside. He got car sick once when I first picked him up, but spent a lot of time in the car to go Christmas tree hunting and did amazing.

He did really well with strangers at Petco and the Christmas tree farm. He walks really nicely on a leash.

He did mostly well with my 8 year old. The only problem was a couple times at the tree farm, my son ran off and had to be called back. When he ran back, Hudson barked at him. He was pretty easily corrected and calmed down.

The chainsaw also startled him a bit but he didn’t react other than to cling closer to me.

Overall, he is a pretty fantastic pup who is going to make the best buddy for a very lucky person/family!

Someone needs to RUN to Pawsitively Saved Rescue to adopt him! You won’t regret it!”

Interested? Apply on our website, pawsitivelysaved.org
He’s waiting for you & hoping he can spend Christmas on a cozy bed next to you!

For all of you who donated to Emma’s surgery fund, we are so very grateful. It is with heavy hearts that we must share that Emma passed peacefully on December 9 due to complications from an infection stemming from an abscess most likely caused by a foxtail.

The picture included is while she was still with us and soaking up all the love in her last moments. A huge thank you to our volunteer Roann who not only contributed to her care but also was the one who held Emma while she peacefully passed and for that we are so grateful. She went knowing she was SO very loved and safe.

Emma was such a fighter, and up until the very end, her tail was wagging even though we know she was suffering. For all of you who donated, we thank you. Her medical bills were significant in her final days and your continued generosity will help to cover some of those costs.

We would like to acknowledge Jade and Jacqueline who were going to adopt Emma despite her medical challenges. They met her and fell in love and we send our deepest condolences to them and what would have been her fur siblings Bella and Gracie.

This is heartbreaking to us all and certainly not the outcome we wanted, but Emma left this world knowing she was loved and we will all go into tomorrow honoring her legacy and helping all the other sweet souls who need us.

Thank you for your support. Rescue is hard, but we will continue helping dogs in her memory. Our hearts are heavy. She is so loved and missed already.

Emma needs your help!!!

Emma came to us in August from California. Prior to arriving in Oregon, she was severely matted and covered in foxtails. Once she was cleaned up, there were multiple foxtails embedded in her skin causing numerous abscesses. In addition, she had an ear infection and conjunctivitis in both eyes. Emma underwent surgery in California to remove all of the foxtails. Throughout all of this, Emma was the sweetest girl and was very tolerant of all treatment. As if all this wasn’t enough, poor Emma was also diagnosed with a cleft lip.

When Emma arrived at Pawsitively Saved, she continued to have problems with her eyes and ears. She was diagnosed by our vet as having an oral nasal fistula due to a malformed tooth. We were able to get her conjunctivitis taken care of, but despite treatment, she continued to have problems with her ears. Also, she recently developed an abscess on her stomach which we think was caused by a foxtail that was initially missed. The abscess is being treated and seems to be responding well. We are trying a new medication with her ears and are noticing some improvement after only a few days.

In order to give Emma the best chance at adoption, we are going to get her oral nasal fistula repaired once her abscess heals. This surgery will cost around $1500 (possibly more depending on what dental X-rays show).

Can you find it in your hearts to donate towards Emma’s surgery? Despite all she has been through, Emma is the happiest girl with the sweetest soul. Her tail is always wagging and she loves nothing more than to be held and snuggled. We just know that Emma will bring so much love and light wherever she ends up and she needs your help.

Please consider donating today and helping Emma get the relief she so desperately deserves! We are always willing to do whatever these pups need for vet care, but we really need donations to stay afloat!! ❤️🥺🐾

Searching for the new bff? It doesn’t get much better than these 3 bundles of love!!

Gwyneth is a 7 month old female Shepherd mix, she weighs about 54 lbs! This girl is ALL love. She has short legs that make her look even more adorable! She is playful, loves treats and toys, decent on leash! She absolutely loves people and walks! She Gives kisses and gets the best zoomies!!

Harvey is a 2 1/2 month old male American Pitbull Terrier, he weighs about 12 lbs! He loves nothing more than a good snuggle with a warm human where he will nap away the afternoon. He is not intimidated by dogs, cats, or chickens; this spry little guy just wants to play with them all! He is in foster and working on crate training and potty training, he is fairly consistent at going to the door when he needs to relieve himself and has been a quick learner to the household routines so there is no doubt he will pick those things up with no problem. With consistency, training, and lots of love he is ready to be the perfect addition to some lucky family.

Heidi is a 1 year old female Terrier mix who weighs about 21 lbs! She is an absolute doll and everyone here has fallen in love with her (it’s hard not to)!! Heidi is very sweet, loves everyone, and is very playful! She Loves treats, knows how to sit, is good on leash, and catches treats like a pro every time! She will make someone so very happy!
