🚨Shy guy Arnold needs safe exit in Los Angeles by TUE 6/16 or he will be euthanized at North Central Los Angeles Shelter.
Arnold came in just a few weeks ago, disheveled and confused as an “Over the Counter Stray” with Possible Owner”. I personally don’t have details but that typically can mean the person turning him in didn’t admit to being the owner, but may very well have been.
But that’s the past. RIGHT NOW he needs a miracle to make it out alive. After initially being a bit stoic—in classic Chow fashion—he slowly started to open up with senior volunteers. He loves the ladies and he LOVES CHEESE! He allows pets, comes when called and has even allowed volunteers to clean his eyes which are irritated by either a condition or unkempt hair getting in them.
While it’s been noted by staff he has been barrier reactive at his kennel, volunteers have not seen that demeanor.
He’s done well in multiple playgroups. Notes: gentle and dainty, tolerant, sexually motivated at times but steerable and low energy. During a recent playgroup another dog jumped him but Arnold did not escalate—he backed off, overwhelmed and insecure.
He’ll do well in a home that can allow him to take it slow and decompress at his own pace. A human(s) that have experience with Chows or breeds with independent natures who can give him the care, structure and guidance he deserves.
Please help us save this kind-hearted boy
