Well let me start out with I am glad 2025 is gone. The end of the year, December was a really hard one in particular... we've had a hard time writing this, so that's why we are just posting now
A few days before Christmas, Jase, a 12 year old neutered male was acting strange. Trying to get a vet with the holidays is very hard. Sadly, Jase died the next day before we could even get a vet out. I found a mass on his liver, so they're was really nothing we could have done for him. He was a very sweet boy, though he was not very social with wanting to be pet.
Then Christmas eve, Lorenzo ate breakfast as normal, but by the time dinner time came around, he could not get up...we helped him to get up only for him to drag his back legs and collapse. He died on Christmas before a vet was able to come. He had an abdomen full of blood. When I finally got to talk to a vet, they said more than likely that sounded like an aneurysm or blood clot..he was a 14 year old neutered male. He was such a cutie with his extremely long tusk (only one since even he was younger, he had broken off the other & it never regrew)
By this time we were already completely devastated with losing them both unexpectedly, then soon after, Earl had quit eating and his leg was so swollen and he would scream if you touched it.
We knew for awhile Earl had problems with a tooth root abcess that we were able to control with antibiotics. He took a turn for the worse and the Monday after Christmas and had to be put to sleep. Earl was a 15 year old neutered male. What a smile this sweet boy had! His buddy Gianni misses him as well, but she's doing good with extra love from us.
All three of these pigs were given up by their owners because they were not wanted anymore. Each of them had some very good years, but also will be very much missed. ❤️ This is the hardest part about sanctuary/ rescue.
