Meet "Reedus".

This sweet senior was saved due to an amazing good citizen who called in a wellness check when they saw/heard something that was just not right.

That was Reedus and his friends. Living in absolutely deplorable trash-pile conditions, no food/water or even shelter from the elements. They were truly left outside, out of sight or mind to die.

Reedus is a skeleton with just skin hanging off. His sheer will to live is the only thing that has kept this amazingly sweet old boy going. His front legs are badly deformed so even digging out if he would have been able to escape a pen would have been impossible.

"Reedus shows signs of chronic neglect. His ears are cropped and carry moderate discharge, his eyes have noticeable tearing. He has moderate dental tartar and gingivitis, and his abdomen is slightly painful on palpation. His limbs show severe structural abnormalities, including metacarpal valgus and elbow varus, which contribute to his abnormal gait and will require lifelong pain management and joint support. He also suffers from severe pododermatitis and mild dehydration."

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day.

Trying to put into words what goes through your mind, body or soul as a Hospice mom is impossible. So we've tried to express it visually.

Each one of these urns, these photographs, these trinkets here. All express a soul that was so very special, that touched so many and left me broken yet better for having each and every single one in my life.

Each of these souls were on a "list" before coming into Rugaz Rescue Inc.. For whatever reason, whatever age, whatever condition. They were all unique and left an impression that changed the world for every human ( and sometimes canine.) they came into contact with.

Each time as a hospice organization, as a hospice mom, that we go through the loss it feels like we are losing one of our own. Because they are. It does not matter how long we've had them. One day, one week, a month or years, we love so damn hard and so damn deep that you had us from hello. For each loss, we carry them for the rest of our lives. The weight is heavy, it's down right suffocating at times. The tears could fill rivers into the ocean. The sadness is all encompassing, but it's because the love, joy, memories made and great times were epic.

To explain the responsibility we carry for the past and the future - I just can't. So we put it into a beautiful and yes painful image set that is filled with so much love, we hope it may also bring understanding for those who do not know or question why we do what we do. Brings awareness that sometimes in our journey of saving others, we may need a moment to collect and save ourselves.

Every single soul we lose also keeps us pushing forward. They help by giving us the strength and reminding us that though they are gone, the next one needs their place. Sometimes the next one is just a few hours after we lose them or a few days. It's never far out because there is indeed another soul who needs their place.

So we do it for each and every single one of them. We remember them. Because we also do it for each and every single one we haven't met yet. For the ones we know we will save in their honor. Who we will love, cherish and utterly devote our lives to until we hold them, kissing them goodbye.

We honor them on Rainbow Bridge Remembrance day, but there is not one day that passes we don't have them with us always. We just wish there were visiting hours at the bridge.

It has been an honor to be a part of each and every one of these precious souls' lives. A precious gift of time - no matter how long that time is.

Unconditional love, that is what is waiting for us at the end of this rainbow.

They hold us up, they let us lean on them and sometimes they even keep us together when you're gone. You could say even though we rescue them, they truly do rescue us.

This week's Transformation Tuesday goes out to our amazing girl "Christine".

"Christine" came to Rugaz Rescue Inc. with nothing but her strong ass will to live. She was a skeleton covered in urine burns, infections and two gaping pressure sore wounds with pockets that went down her entire legs.

Today our little Tina had her final surgery and is finally healthy enough to be officially adopted by her foster home which have fallen madly in love with her. I mean, duh how can you not! Look at that face!

Millie Bobbie Brown (yes, the Millie Bobbie Brown) is a French Bulldog icon, approximately 20 lbs of pure attitude and suspicious side-eye. She was dumped after her days as a baby factory ended—but don’t worry, she’s not looking back. She’s far too busy curating her soft life playlist and judging your snack choices.

She’s housebroken... mostly. Like every Frenchie on earth, she’s emotionally housebroken. If she has to hold it too long? That’s a you problem.

Millie thrives in the AC, under a blanket, with a snack and a remote she refuses to touch. If it’s not true crime, reality TV, or messy gossip with subtitles—don’t even try her. And since she’s not about to ruin her nails hitting “next episode,” you’d better be ready to Netflix, chill, and press buttons on command.

She loves attention, adores snuggles, and will stare deep into your soul while actively ignoring everything you say. She doesn’t want a home—she wants a kingdom. But don’t stress, you don’t have to be perfect. Just willing. Willing to love her, laugh at her, and hand over at least one side of the bed.

This week's Transformation Tuesday goes out to our little miracle boy who was thrown away with the garbage but is now the picture perfect diamond in the ruff!

"Darren" came to Rugaz Rescue Inc. in deplorable conditions. He was literally thrown away with the garbage, hardly able to move he was so weak. He was suffering from a full body staph infection, generalized demodex mange, intestinal parasites and dehydration.

Due to our monthly donors, community support, Virtual Foster Parents and one time sponsors.
