Obi is a beautiful and very fluffy 3 year old domestic long hair tuxedo female cat the was rescued in May of 2022. She was rescued with her siblings Chewy, Nibbit and Teebo. She was adopted in May of 2024 but she was returned in September due to the owner not being able to take care of her anymore. She is very sweet and loves to snuggle but will definitely need some time to warm up to her new owner. She is spayed, microchipped and fully vetted and ready to go to her furever home!!!

We wanted to give everyone an update on how things are going. We have not been very active on social media as we have been focusing on working our rescue and taking care of the cats in our care. This last year was our first year of operations which made it difficult to obtain grants and additional funding. We are hoping to obtain better funding in 2025 to move our rescue forward. Our rescue spent about $22k last year and we were only able to bring in $10k through fund raising and adoption/intake fees. The remaining $12k of our expenses was paid by our board members.

As an overview, in 2024 we took in 68 cats/kittens from various sources such as Pasco County Animal Services and the community. We also had 12 kittens born at our rescue from pregnant strays brought in. We found loving homes for 56 cats/kittens and only had 3 cats returned the entire year, two of them are about to be reposted for adoption and the other has become a long-term resident of our rescue due to health conditions. We currently have 38 cats in our care, 15 of them currently being long-term residents.

We have finally broke ground on our new indoor rescue area. We have not been able to raise any funds for this project, so all of the funding has come from our board members. We were originally raising $3k for this project, so far we have spent $1k and need to raise an additional $2k to complete the project quickly. Otherwise, the board members will continue to fund the project as they can and we will likely have our new rescue area ready in the spring. If you are able to help donate for this project, it would be greatly appreciated and would help us complete this project quicker so we can get back to full operations. You can donate below at our paypal or you can visit our website to find the many different ways you can donate supplies and resources.

We are hoping to post several cats for adoption within the next month and once we get the new rescue area completed and start to have more adoptions, we will open our rescue again for intakes. We have not been able to take in any cats since August due to capacity and the lack of funding to provide for the cats in our care. We are also considering starting a live stream of the new rescue area once it is completed to help raise additional funds.

We want to thank EVERYONE that has helped us throughout the last year. It would be impossible to thank all the people and organizations that have helped us accomplish our mission of rescuing as many cats and kittens as we can. Although we REALLY do appreciate any help we have received, we really do need more help! Our board members are struggling to continue to fund the rescue on their own. If you have the ability, please consider donating. You can donate supplies through Chewy https://www.chewy.com/g/kitty-rescue-corp_b120817710 or Amazon https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/16BA718SXFUQT?ref_=wl_share links. Happy Thanksgiving from Kitty Rescue Corp!!!

We are nearing the end of our first year of operations. It has been a difficult year but we have had amazing growth. We took in 68 cats this year and completed 57 adoptions. Our focus for the rest of this year will be adopting out the adoptable cats in our rescue and preparing the rest of the cats for adoption. We are also planning on having another adoption event at our local Petco next month, so look out for details about that event.

Now that we have almost completed our first year of operations, we will now be eligible for more grants and we will be able to join more rescue organizations that can help us move forward. We are also close to starting a non-profit partnership with Merck so we can purchase Bravecto products at a much lower price, which will help us protect our rescues against fleas and diseases.

We are very thankful for all of the people that have helped us start this journey!!! We could not have done this without the community's help. Along with that, we are very thankful for the critical partnerships we have created with our local vet (All Creatures Animal Hospital) and with Pasco County Animal Services.

We hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving and the upcoming holiday season. Thank you again to everyone!!!!

We are continuing to raise funds for Brookie's echo to confirm a heart disease diagnosis. The doctor needs to confirm which type of heart disease she has so they can determine which medication she needs to help. She has been doing well in her new environment, has gained weight, and looks much healthier. She is currently a long-term resident and considered unadoptable. If we can complete the test to confirm the diagnosis and start treatment, she could then be listed as a medical case available for adoption into a loving and caring home.

We have closed all other fundraising campaigns. You can also donate directly to us at https://checkout.shelterluv.com/donate/KRC

We want to thank CUDDLY for donating $470 in food, medications, and supplies! It has come during a time when we really needed it. We want to thank them for the partnership and everything they have done and do for us. Thank you CUDDLY!!!

Our first year of operations has been a journey. We have brought 68 cats into our rescue so far this year and we have completed 55 adoptions. Our rescue has had almost $20k in expenses with $10k brought in through surrender/adoption fees and donations (40% from donations).

We have reached a point in our journey where we need to focus on fundraising to support the general expenses of the cats currently in our care. We currently have 36 cats in our care, including 14 long-term unadoptable residents. We are working on a few projects for the rest of the year that will we hope will prepare us to continue full operations in 2025.

Until then, we will continue fundraising and taking care of the cats in our care and continue preparing the rest of the adoptable cats for adoption. If we do obtain additional grants or other funding over the next few weeks and months, we will reevaluate and continue full operations earlier if we can.

Our mission is to save as many abandoned cats/kittens as possible and prepare them for adoption to a safe and loving home. Unfortunately, the tasks to complete this mission can be expensive and require a lot of work. We have worked really hard and dedicated a lot of our personal resources to support the rescue through our first year, but we need help to continue.

We want to thank everyone who has helped us so far, we really appreciate your support and the kind words of encouragement you have provided us. We really do appreciate those who have come around us to help support our cause and passion! We specifically want to thank Judith Morrison, Holly L Roland, Danielle Sipes, Charles Leone, Lana Sharp, Kiki Cuddly and All Creatures Animal Hospital. They have been critical supporters in our journey and we couldn't have made it this far without them. THANK YOU!!!

We've made it through Hurricane Milton with minimal damage. While some of the cats were scared of the noises, everyone made it ok through the night. We spent the day cleaning up storm debris and completing repairs. We also removed all the boards, cleaned and re-opened our second outside shelter.

We have applied for several grants and have a CUDDLY campaign open. We also received a request from The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement to take in lost and abandoned animals from the Hurricane but we are unable to respond until we hear back on the grants and/or receive other funding.

Thank you to those who have donated already, we really appreciate your help! We have been blessed to not be impacted greatly by the storm. We want to help respond to the storm but we also have to be able to care for the animals already in our care.

We have completed preperations. We are boarded up and as ready as possible. We have launched a Cuddly campaign to raise funds for the storm and response. We are currently completely out of funding due to several recent ER and vet visits. We have already received calls and messages for assistance that we are unable to fulfill. We are also applying for additional grants in hopes that we can receive funding so we can do more.

Hurricane Milton will likely impact our area putting our rescue at risk. We are working to prepare and we are raising funds to help us move forward after the storm.

If you are able, please consider donating, even $5 or $10 can really help. At the current moment, with our low funding, we will be limited in our ability to respond to the needs of the lost and abandoned cats after the storm. The more funding we can get, the more we can do to help animals and their owners. Depending on where the storm makes landfall, we will also be applying for special grants to help provide additional funding to help.

Please everyone stay safe and be prepared. We are looking for additional foster homes. If you are in a good position after the storm and have the ability to provide temporary food and shelter for some cats or kittens, please message us or fill out the volunteer application at the link below.
