🌹 Princess Poppy Has Been Waiting 🌹
Somewhere in a quiet room, a 55 pound girl named Princess Poppy sits with the patience of a saint who’s read every fairytale but never once been written into one.
She’s 3 years old — an age that should still be golden — yet she waits, soft-eyed and hopeful, as other dogs are chosen. Over and over. Her tail still wags when they go. Every single time.
For 842 days, she has been waiting for someone to see her.
She is a Pittie/Lab mix, but you can see streaks of something rarer in her: maybe mischief, maybe mercy. She moves through the world like she’s pretending it’s fine that no one has picked her yet. She prances when she walks, because dignity is a thing she refuses to surrender.
At home, she is flawless in all the ways that don’t make headlines — clean floors, quiet nights, polite manners, gentle sighs. She curls herself into sleep and dreams of hands that won’t let go this time. She’s crate-trained, house-trained, spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative — all those tidy little checkboxes that mean she’s done everything right.
And yet still: no one.
She loves dogs, though she prefers to interview them first, as all wise queens do. She hoards toys not out of greed, but memory — as if each squeaky thing might fill the space where belonging should be. She would do best with older children, the kind who understand that love is not borrowed, and that stuffed animals are sacred.
You can almost hear it when you look at her — that small, aching question she’s too proud to ask aloud: “Why not me?”
But here’s what I can tell you.
