Venmo -Ark
(⚠️A FAKE Venmo account using my name and logo is missing the second K in my last name, Perkowska, and has a 1 behind the word ARK.) I provide food, shelter and any medical care that is needed to orphaned or injured birds, ducks and chickens. I have had great success rehabilitating and releasing hurt and orphaned birds that were

brought in by good samaritans wanting to save a life. I also provide a forever home to a number of special needs birds, ducks and chickens and try to educate the public on how to care for our feathered friends. I am a one woman rescue with no help or volunteers and everything I provide for the birds at Kasia’s Ark comes out of my own pocket. I don’t have a facility or shelter and run my little rescue out of my home. Donations are always needed and very much appreciated.

Here we go again. This weather is CONSTANTLY keeping me on my toes.

STORM WATCH - all indications are some tropical development will occur over the northern Gulf within the next 48 hours. A tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to form. The next name on the list is Bertha.

A lot still is yet to be determined. Remember Arthur? The storm went in to Texas but we took the brunt of the weather in Louisiana. This storm will be different in many ways which is why exact track and intensity will be key. The shear and dry air over the Gulf should keep things in check so only a weaker storm is possible.

All residents from Louisiana to the Panhandle of Florida(including vacationers) should monitor the latest developments on this system.

Precious girls.

Floor Girl Rescue. Two weeks ago we were able to rescue 32 ‘floor girls’. These are the caged hens that have somehow escaped and ended up battered and bruised from the fall. Mostly from a great height.

26 of the girls were put into John and Heathers ‘wheelchair ward’ at our Brisbane Hen Hospital. This gave them time to heal, eat well, have fresh air and medication. 🐓🐓

All but 6 of these sweet sweet girls are walking and ready for adoption. 🐓🐓

Our big Rescue and Adoption Days are coming soon. Starting in August through to November.

If you would like to become a Mother Clucker or adopt or just Give a Cluck and donate make sure you have signed up and subscribed to our newsletter! ⬇️

🥬🐰 Concerned about the recent Cyclospora outbreak? Here's what exotic pet owners need to know! 🐹🦜🦎

We've received several calls from worried pet owners following reports of Cyclospora infections in people, including cases here in Louisiana.

The good news: Current research indicates that Cyclospora cayetanensis is considered a human-specific parasite. Rabbits, guinea pigs, tortoises, iguanas, birds, and other vegetable-loving pets are not known to be susceptible to infection from the strain that causes illness in humans.

That means your bunny isn't likely to catch Cyclospora from contaminated produce the way people can.

✅ We still recommend thoroughly washing all fresh fruits and vegetables before feeding them to both your family and your pets. This helps reduce exposure to dirt, pesticides, bacteria, and other potential contaminants.

⚠️ If your pet develops signs of illness such as decreased appetite, diarrhea, lethargy, or unusual behavior, please contact your veterinarian. While Cyclospora is not considered a concern for these species, there are many other conditions that can cause similar symptoms.

As always, we'll continue monitoring emerging information and recommendations to help keep your pets safe and healthy.

Have questions about your exotic pet? Drop them in the comments or give us a call—we're happy to help!

Was dropping off 3 birds as of this morning, picked up 2 more crows on the way. One passed before I was done with bird chores. The two I picked up on the way here, DOA by the time I pulled into the parking lot.😞

Hopefully the hawk and the remaining crow can be rehabbed.
