NKN has an amazing opportunity for you to help “watch” over our babies! We make about 90% of our money trough Live Streaming on TikTok. We are currently ranked 6th in the country for Educatioal Live Creators! And, weve achieved all of that with ONE old iphone! Now we want to upgrade and expand! We officially have our invoice for our full overhaul! We will be getting FIVE new cameras along with improvements to give us a more interactive stream and dual streaming (where you stream on multiple socials simultaneously) capabilities. As a fun way to help cover the cost Nola Kitten Nursery is offering everyone a chance to name a camera! Just think….we are sitting in Live and a kitten is going CRAZY! So we press a button to switch over to our Brenda Cam or our Kristen Cam…. Have a loved one who is a huge animal lover and would like to honor them with the donation? Well name the camera after them so they can always be “watching” over our beloved babies! Each camera will have the name decorated onto the back and we will reference the name of each camera when switching from view to view. Just imagine us yelling “ hurry switch over to Betty Cam so we can see what those silly kittens are doing!” So excited for this new upgrade! And thankful for all the love and support! Beetle here is a meat nurser! That is what we call Kittens who, while in transition from the bottle to wet food, will suckle or nurse the meat of their new wet food. While this is something they eventually grow out of it can often times lead to a trance state that is quite funny to watch. This is something to be monitored however as it could mean they’re not properly eating and getting the calories, they need during the weaning process. But for the most part, it is a funny and harmless behavior. Follow along for more kitten antics!

From our first bottle baby of the season to our most recent rescues our first responders have been responsible for more than just helping humans this year!

First photo is of a bottle baby found by NOPD Major LeJon Roberts & Jessica Dietz - COPS 8, President the week of Mardi Gras on Bourbon street! Bourbon is now grown, fixed, and adopted into a loving furever home!

Today we got a call from Third District Volunteer Fire Department with 4 babies who were sick and unfortunately covered in fleas that they had found. So Nola Kitten Nursery swung into action!

Hello amazing friends!!! The Nola Kitten Nursery is on the move…..well we want to be! We are looking for a transport sleeper van for the rescue. The goal is to help transport our babies up North where the shelters are less full and actually sometimes in need of more animals for adoption. The Nola Kitten Nursery has taken in 335 animals this year so far! While many of these babies are wildlife who are released back into the wild once big enough, many more are kittens and puppies who need loving furever homes. Our shelter system is overwhelmed. I’m exhausted from pouring love, energy and money into precious babies to have them sit waiting for homes. So, I’m asking for our amazing support system to keep an ear and eyes out for a van that NKN could purchase (or have donated) and retrofit into a transport van that I could do quarterly drives up north. Please help us celebrate all the beautiful lives Nola Kitten Nursery has help this year so far. Over 300 animals already cared for and it’s only July! We are so proud of how much we have grown and the work we have done in our community! We are asking for 300 people to make a dontion. One doner for each life helped so far this year! Thank you for all the love and support!

Nola Kitten Nursery took in 302 animals last year. This year they have just passed that number… Carley Self needs your support for 300 donations for 300 Lives

Beyond proud to be 6th in the Nation for Educational Live TikTok content creators! Social media can be a draining place and adds A LOT to the already difficult job of Animal Rescue but THIS is why I do what I do.

I can’t save them all….but WE can save a hell of a lot more TOGETHER!

We often push ourselves too hard as mother, as caretakers, and especially as animal rescuers. It’s extremely hard to take the time and slow down to even ask ourselves if we’re “OK”. Yesterday was a reminder of just how easy it is to let our own personal care fall from being the number one priority. I really thought I had been taking it easy and ignored minor signs that shouldn’t have been ignored. I’m very thankful for Southern Animal Foundation for their amazing care of me and as always, our animals. If you have a friend or loved one who is in the animal rescue world please check in on them often. When they tell you, they are OK don’t believe them. Be specific with your questions. Ask them when the last time they drink something was. Ask them when the last time they had a break was. Push them to really slow down and assess their own well-being.

We welcomed in some new special friends today! This makes over 150 animals we have taken in this year! While we are Nola Kitten Nursery in name, NKN welcomes all species who need bottle feeding or speciality care! That being said…some of us are more enthusiastic about it than others 😬

This is a hard job….its made harder by all the blaming and bickering that keyboard warriors do. Please know that all of us out here in animal rescue are doing our best. Be kind, be mindful and if you’re going to complain or critique you better be willing or already doing this never ending work!
