Hello NCAC Community,
Our priority is protecting your pet. By notifying you promptly when health services are due, we ensure you can schedule appointments at a time that works best for your schedule, not just ours.

🗣️ How we stay in touch:
To ensure nothing important is missed, we utilize a combination of Email, text message and push notification (via the app). This multi-channel approach is a best practice to reach you wherever is most convenient.

💡 Making the most of your experience:
One Email Per Household: Using one primary email keeps our software, app, and pharmacy synced. Want the whole family on the app? Simply share your login credentials!
App Exclusive (24/7 Records): App users enjoy the exclusive ability to request vaccination summaries 24/7, perfect for last-minute grooming or boarding. (Please allow 24 hours for more detailed record requests).
Smart Scheduling & Confirmations: If you already have an appointment on the calendar, our system is designed to recognize that. You won’t receive redundant reminders for that specific visit. Confirming a notification immediately notifies you of visit requirements and pauses all future follow-up reminders for that appointment.
One-Click Pharmacy: App users enjoy a single-sign-on feature for our online store, one less log in to remember! Thank you for supporting our practice by shopping our official pharmacy.
✅ You’re always in control You have full power to manage our communication channels individually:

Email: Use the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any email.
Text: Reply STOP to any text message.
Push Notifications: Manage via your phone settings or the app.
We recommend keeping at least one method active so you never miss a vital health milestone.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Thank you for trusting us with your pet’s care.

Here is our clinic kitty😺, Caliope! She came to us about 5 years ago - as a stray a client found, we fixed her up and she never left! She loves lounging in the doctors office especially when the afternoon 🌞sun beams thru the window. Callie definitely THINKS she is the queen👑 of the palace, who are we to disagree?😜

Grass awns, w**d seeds, foxtails, OH MY!! 🙀
These tiny, spiky seeds can cause BIG problems.

🌾 What is a grass awn?
Grass awns are hairy, bristle-like, appendages that grow from the ear/flower of barley, rye, and other grasses, and typically flower in June and July. They are also known as foxtails due to their long, unbranched, spike-like flowerheads. Some other colloquial names are: w**d seeds, june grass, timothy hay, cheatgrass, and downy brome.

⚠️ Why are they dangerous?
Grass awns can burrow their way under your pet’s skin, causing pain and severe inflammation and/or infection.

👀 Prevention
Examine your dog after you’ve returned home from a walk or play time outside. A grooming brush can remove a tangled awn from a dog’s coat, and this is a good time to also inspect the dog’s snout, ear flaps, and between its toes for any foreign materials. Keeping the fur between your dog’s toes trimmed will also help.

🐕 When is it safe to remove a grass awn from my pet?
For best results, remove grass awns from your dog’s coat whenever you see them. If the awn is in your dog’s nose, or has punctured your dog’s body, then a trip to the vet is a MUST‼️ Do not attempt to remove the awn yourself, as this could lead to breakage and further issues like infection and inflammation. In the worst case scenario, grass awns in dogs can migrate throughout the dog’s body, causing damage to vital organs, and deteriorating the health of your furry friend.

💬 Summary
Carefully examining your dog after walks and time spent outside is the best defense against grass awns. Call us ASAP, 239-597-1313 if you suspect that your dog is suffering from the ill effects of coming in contact with them!

Hurricane Preparedness
⚠️Checklist: Prepare your pet evacuation kit for hurricane season ⚠️
Preparation now, saves worry and fear later. Here is a checklist to make sure you have everything you need for your pets in case of an evacuation.

Get your pet microchipped, and ensure that the microchip registration is up to date. If the registration has old information, the microchip will not get your pet home to you if they become lost.
Check that your app is synced with our software and is showing your pet's vaccination information. If it is not showing, please contact us so we can confirm that the email address we have on file is correct so the app will connect to our system.
Check your pet's medication supply, and send an app order request for refills if you need them.
Take your pets with you. Do not leave them behind. If you need assistance with housing for your pet, please let us know so we can assist you.
See the attached pdf for additional ideas to be sure that you are prepared.

Most importantly, please stay safe. Pets are family, make pet preparation part of your family plan!
