💙 Happy Father's Day to all the amazing pet dads! 🐾

Today, we're celebrating the dads who share their snacks (even when they shouldn't 🍔), wake up early for walks, throw the tennis ball one more time, and love their pets like family.

As you enjoy the day, here are a few quick pet safety reminders:

🔥 Keep pets away from hot grills, open flames, and food scraps. Fatty foods, bones, corn cobs, and skewers can lead to serious emergencies.

🚤 Spending the day on the water? Make sure your pet wears a properly fitted life jacket and has access to fresh drinking water.

☀️ Don't forget the heat! Bring plenty of water, provide shade, and watch for signs of overheating, especially during outdoor celebrations.

🍺 Keep alcoholic beverages and human foods out of paw's reach.

Our Emergency team is here 24/7, including weekends and holidays, because emergencies don't take the day off.

From all of us at Fetch, we wish every pet dad a safe, happy, and tail-wagging Father's Day! 💙🐶🐱

☀️🐾 There's no doubt about it, SWFL gets HOT in the summer. 🐾☀️

While the air temperature may feel manageable, pavement can heat up fast and reach temperatures that can burn your dog's paw pads in seconds.

Before every walk, use the 7-second rule: Place the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds. If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for your dog.

🔥 Signs of paw pad burns may include:
• Limping
• Excessive licking of the feet
• Redness or discoloration
• Blisters or peeling skin

To help keep your pet safe, walk during the cooler parts of the day, stick to shaded routes when possible, and choose grass over asphalt whenever you can.

If you suspect your pet has burned their paws or is showing signs of heat-related illness, visit Fetch right away.

When Minka’s family noticed she wasn’t acting like herself, they trusted their instincts and brought her to Fetch Fort Myers for emergency care.

Decreased appetite, hiding, lethargy, vomiting, or signs of discomfort can be easy to dismiss at first, especially in cats who are masters at masking illness. In Minka’s case, these changes had been ongoing for several days and warranted a closer look.

If your cat is eating less, acting withdrawn, vomiting, or showing any sudden change in behavior, it may be a sign that something more serious is going on. Early evaluation can help identify problems sooner and get your pet the care they need!

Our Emergency Service in Fort Myers is available 24/7 for pets experiencing urgent medical concerns.
