๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ’šCat of the Day๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ’š
๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸˆALFRED๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿˆ

ALFRED is a friendly guy who wandered to the home of a nice person who didn't think this big, beautiful ginger guy should be out in the weather.

Thank goodness for people who will make a space for a stray until there is room at a shelter for another kitty.

ALFRED likes attention and will ask for pets, which, given his handsome face, is not a hardship for the volunteers. He also has a nice, inviting purr. As a stray, we do not know how he feels about dogs or children. He doesn't seem to be bothered by the other cats. He is still young enough that he probably would be ok with a non-aggressive dog or cat. He'd probably enjoy having someone play chase the toy on the string or toss the mousie. He also looks like he'd enjoy a nap or two. Children should be old enough to understand what soft petting and touch is, that most cats do not tolerate squeezing hugs, and everyone needs to remember that long hard playtimes can over-excite most kitties and may result in nips/scratches.

ALFRED is FIV+, an immune deficiency. it is not contagious to any animal, except cats, and only with a severe bite/wound. FIV cats can have the same life expectancy as any cat. Please research the information available.

๐Ÿ’˜๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’˜MADDOX๐Ÿ’˜๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’˜

Pretty little MADDOX (Maddie) was relinquished by her former owner. He mentioned she would be shy at first but would warm up to people and was very sweet and affectionate. He was concerned that she self-groomed too much and had started wearing some thin spots on her coat. Cats will over-groom if they are stressed but since she has been with us, we haven't seen any signs of over grooming, and her coat is beautiful. He felt he could not afford to keep her and requested we find her a home where she could be loved and cared for.

Since she came to us, MADDOX did hide a bit at first, but once she became more confident that she was safe, she quickly came out of hiding. She was soon asking for loving from the volunteers. MADDOX loves chin and neck rubs. She doesnโ€™t seem to mind the other cats in her room. We don't know how MADDOX would be with dogs, cats, or children, but given her shy, slightly nervous nature, she probably would not do well with kittens, puppies or small children. She is not aggressive, but she would probably spend her time hiding from the chaos that kittens, puppies and youngsters naturally generate.

This sweet girl is probably more of a lover than a playmate, but she might enjoy periods of playtime once she gains confidence that she is safe in her new home. She would be fine with older children who understand that MADDOX might prefer to become a snuggle buddy instead of playing much. MADDOX needs a patient home and family willing to let her set the pace. The reward to winning sweet MADDOX's heart will be well worth the time and effort!

DOB-06/2019 Entered Shelter-062025

If you are interested in adopting MADDOX, please visit the shelter during Adoption Hours, Wednesdays and Mondays, 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Saturdays, 10:00am to 1:00pm,. Please Remember to bring your cat carrier.

๐Ÿฑ๐ŸŒน๐ŸฑRIVER๐Ÿฑ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿฑ

Cute, little RIVER is just barely out of kittenhood. She is a pretty black/brown tiger who is not sure about shelter life. Lots of smells, people, noise, and bigger cats! But she's willing to give you a chance, if you give her time to settle.
As a stray, we do not know how she'd react to dogs or children. She is young enough to be able to adapt to a non-aggressive cat or dog sibling. Children should be old enough to understand about soft, gentle touch, no squeezing the kitty, and let go if the kitty wants down. Parents and children also need to understand that cats will scratch or bite when over stimulated, or if they feel restrained or trapped.

Ms. RIVER could be a wonderful, lifelong companion to the right family. Maybe yours?

If you would like to adopt RIVER, please visit the shelter, during Adoption Hours, Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Saturdays, 10:00am to 1:00pm. Please Bring a Cat Carrier.

๐Ÿฑ๐ŸŒป๐ŸฑKAMALA๐Ÿฑ๐ŸŒป๐Ÿฑ

We do not understand how this sweet girl is still waiting for her forever home!

KAMALA is a very sweet cat with a calm personality. She was found as a stray with 4 kittens, under a deck, in the heat of summer. She was a good mom to her kittens (all adopted) and made sure they were fine.
While she cared for her babies, she was placed in a foster home with dogs, but never really got close enough to interact. The dogs in the foster home were kind of big and hyper, so were quite intimidating. She might be ok with a non-aggressive, quieter dog but she would need time and patience during the introduction phase.

KAMALA gets along well with other cats, acting as a foster mom herself if a younger cat needs her. KAMALA looks after the younger cats in her room, who need comfort and assurance, just as she did her babies. KAMALA is fine with the children old enough to understand soft petting and no squeezing hugs. KAMALA did fine with the children when she was in a foster home.

KAMALA is young enough for occasional play, but probably would just as soon find a sunspot to nap in. She is not crazy about being picked up but does love attention and will jump into a lap if given the opportunity. She is a sweetie, reaches out for pets, and would love to find a home with lots of laps and love, just for her, forever.

DOB: 05/2020 Entered Shelter: 05/2024

If you are interested in adopting KAMALA, please visit the shelter during Adoption Hours, Monday and Wednesday from 4pm-7pm, Saturday from 10am-1pm or call 231-773-3030 to set up an appointment. Remember to bring your cat carrier.

๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’›๐ŸพCONNOR๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿพ

CONNOR looks a bit "scruffy". No one knows his story, but he showed up one day in a local's yard and didn't leave. As he is friendly, it would seem that although he may have gotten into a tough situation, he once knew loving hands. He was fine with the rescuer's dog. But it is unknown how he feels about other cats and children. Given his outgoing personality, he probably would be fine with a non-aggressive dog or cat sibling, and with children old enough to know about gentle touch and no squeezing the kitty!

CONNER's unkept look is partically due to his allergies to fleas and a possible dust up with a neighborhood bully. But he has been treated for the fleas, the scabs will heal, the fur will grow back, eventually. And even if the scar doesn't fade, it just makes him look mysterious and roughish. CONNOR is a sweet guy who only wants to live in a safe place, be fed, and loved. And CONNOR is not shy when asking for attention! He can be quite vocal!๐Ÿ˜ธ Wouldn't you like to cozy up and let him tell you all of his stories about life on the street, as you cuddle on the couch?

If you would like to adopt CONNER, please visit the shelter, during Adoption Hours, Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Saturdays, 10:00am to 1:00pm. Please Bring a Cat Carrier.
