It is a harsh reality that no one wants to think about, but if something were to happen to you, what would happen to your beloved pets? Sadly, the shelter often takes in beautiful kitties who have been loved by someone, who suddenly isn't there anymore. In a perfect world, there would be arrangements in place for the pet left behind if the guardian either dies or is moved to a nursing home. But it is not a perfect world.

DOT's loving guardian died. No one came forward to take her in, so the landlord threw her out on the street to fend for herself. Fortunately, someone immediately swooped in and rescued her before anything happened to her.

After being in the shelter several months, DOT found a new home in 2023, however, her new guardians had to move in with a parent, who is allergic to cats. So, poor DOT is once again, looking for a forever home.

DOT has the cutest "black spots" on her mostly white coat. She loves to play and play hard. She loves running up the cat trees, chasing the toys and playing in the atrium. She is also friendly, loves being petted, wants to be loved and will give a love nip if your attention wanders before she is done being petted. And when she wants to play, she doesn't like being held back.

DOT has a lot of energy and would do well in a family setting. However, we do not know if she has had much contact with young children or dogs. She does ok with her roomies. She does not want to be picked up and held. Since she lived with an older person, DOT would probably do best in a home with older children as she can get over stimulated and may be too much for very young kids.

DOT has been here long enough, and it is her turn to be given the chance to show that she would be the purrrfect kitty for the right home!

SHELBY is a pretty silver/grey tiger who was brought in as a stray who had just had kittens. She is so tiny and so young, it is hard to believe she isn't a kitten herself, but sadly cats can become pregnant at 4 months, so being approximately a year old made her more than old enough. Her days of motherhood are behind her now and she is looking to become someone's loving forever housemate/family member!

We do not know how she will react to dogs, cats, or children. Right now she is very nervous, but she has started, gingerly, allowing volunteers to coax her into letting us give her soft, gentle pets and scratches. Once she understands the soft pets feel really good, she stretches out her body and rolls back and forth, like a puppy so you can also pet both sides. If you are very careful, she also might be ok with a gentle belly pet, but she is nervous about that, so you might only get one chance.

SHELBY has had an eventful, confusing life so far, so she may need time to completely trust that she is safe. We will work with her as she transitions from being in in-take to joining the other cats in a room. So far, it seems she will certainly need time to adjust to any new situation and she may be best in a quiet home with older children who realize she may never be as playful as most young cats. But with time, patience, love and the right family, she should stop being afraid and gain the confidence to know she is loved and will be safe with her people, forever.

This pretty tortie is a gorgeous kitty with black and gold blended, with yellow highlighting various focal spots like her face, with a bit of white showing here and there through the gold. Very unusual!

BERRI was found near a church with four kittens running around. Her rescuer was able to find homes for the kittens, but no one wanted Momma. Since the Samaritan was between homes herself, she was unable to keep BERRI.

BERRI is a sweet girl who will come for pets and attention. She is super soft and loves pets and chin rubbing. We don't know how she would be with dogs or cats, but she should be ok with a non-aggressive cat or dog. She starts out shy, but with soft touch and gentle pets, she warms up quickly. Children should always be old enough to understand how to pet a cat, not pick up a cat who doesn't like it, and never hang onto a cat who wants down.

BERRI came to us under a stressful circumstance, being separated from her kittens, shoved into a carrier, brought to a shelter with strangers and many other cats. She was nervous and held back a couple of days, but soon came out for her share of loving. She deserves to be with someone who loves her and wants to care for her forever!!!

FRAN, along with Claire, Molly, Judd, and Emillio, were all brought to the shelter by Pound Buddies from a hoarding situation involving many other cats and dogs.

FRAN is a sweet kitten who hasn't been around long enough to form an opinion about other cats, dogs, or children. Living in the situation she was in, she probably has not had a lot of human interaction. All she knows is she is scared and has no idea what is going on or what to expect! She does not come for affection, but she does not fight being picked up and gently cuddled. She is certainly young enough that she should be able to quickly adapt to a new family. Children need to be old enough to understand that FRAN needs time to get used to another new home. Also, she is small yet and could be easily injured, so no tight hugs and only gentle touch. She will like play time, but when overstimulated, even tiny nails and teeth can scratch and bite. She will probably adapt to other pets, but they need to be non-aggressive and supervised until FRAN is bigger.

This pretty girl has had a tough start, and she is still doing a lot of hiding, but with time, patience and love, her future is bright. She has started to venture out of the room. Are you the one who can give her the space and love she needs to find her self-confidence and be the sweet, loving kitty she is meant to be?
