Reunited!

Nothing is better than the happy tears that flow when your beloved pet is back in your arms!

Each year over 1500 dogs enter Pound Buddies!
Accidents happen, we understand and we are happy to keep your pets safe until they can be reunited. 🥰

As we enter the warmer months, more animals enter the shelter because, well...they're outside more just like we are. 😀

To reduce the chance of your pet(s) getting out or lost, check out these simple tips:

1. Check your fencing and repair escape routes (over, under and through the fence)

2. Charge perimeter collars and ensure a safe and proper fit.

3. Avoid leaving your pet(s) outside unattended, especially for extended periods of time.

4. Spend time with your pets! Take a walk, work on training and enrichment to keep them stimulated and connected with you.

5. Get your pet fixed to reduce the desire to escape and find a date!😲

BUT MOST IMPORTANT AND BY FAR THE MOST SIMPLE safety tip......

PUT IDENTIFICATION IN YOUR PET!

A collar with your contact info is the fastest and easiest way to be reunited with a lost pet....and they won't have to come to the shelter!

We would much rather return your dog to your doorstep than have to bring them to the shelter....but we need to know where they live😀

If collars don't work for whatever reason....microchip your pets! (But please make sure your information is registered and kept up to date)

So as much as we LOVE to see pets go back to their family, we would love to see fewer come in! Lol.

The simple tasks of identification and taking an active role in ensuring their containment goes a long way! (An ounce of prevention....you know the saying) 🙂

WARNING!
May cause serious heart palpations! 🥰

Meet Nugget (male) and Judith (female). They are a bonded pair of pocket bullies and are a little over the age of one. While bodies are little, their hearts are enormous. 🐾

In the short time they’ve been at the shelter, staff has fallen completely in love with them and with their love for one another. Neither like to be without the other, so they are walked together, play together outside, and cuddle up together to sleep. ❤️

If you are interested in giving them the happily ever after they deserve, please submit a MYPETPROFILE at www.poundbuddies.org

OUT OF THE POUND & HITTIN THE TOWN WITH "KENNY!"

We spent a great couple days with Pound buddies resident Kenny. He is about six months and virtually perfect!, He does great with other dogs, was really good meeting and playing with our cat Charlie, he didn’t have an accident in our house and he did his business shortly after being let outside. As usual he was a big hit at legends and Rad Dads.

Thank you Brian Rollston and Amy Rollston for once again taking a shelter dog out for a fun adventure!

Now let's get Kenny adopted! Woohoo!
To meet Kenny please submit a MYPETPROFILE at www.poundbuddies.org

Meet "Chops"
This handsome little fella is a pint sized package of fun!

Chops is around 30 pounds, just under 1 year old, and is already neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccines and heartworm negative.

Chops loves to play and would be best with a someone who will give him the love and attention he deserves. An active home would be his jam! Lol....🥰

Animal Care & Control responded to a call this morning from a resident who said a dog had been hiding out under a tree for a few days.

At first he thought the dog was just wandering around and would go home...but after a few days, he knew he should call for some help.

When we first arrived, we couldn't even find him, he was curled up in a tight little spot way under the tree, barely noticeable.

Good thing he was interested in the crinkle of the hot dog package! Lol...he came right out when he heard that! 😀

Right away we could see that he was severely injured....and even as he was walking towards the van, we could smell the infection! He was in rough shaped but so happy to receive help.

A huge thank you to Dr Graham, Dr. Houser and their staff at Glenpark Animal Hospital for making room for him today! After treatment for multiple wounds and a severe infection, he (we named him "Mickey") is back at PoundBuddies resting.

Thank-you to the good Samaritan who cared enough to call for help! So many wonderful people in our community🥰

DOG FOUND IN A CELLAR

A property owner made a startling discovery today when he went to his rental house to do some cleaning. (This was supposed to be a vacant property) But there were clear indications that someone had been in the house.

After looking around, he heard whimpering from the cellar....and then barking!

The property owner called Central Dispatch and Animal Control was contacted to respond.

Nick Hacket, Animal Care & Control, arrived to the address and described the situation as something right out of a horror movie!

Nick said this was not a basement, it's a cellar! He had to open a hatch door from the floor and make his way down a homemade ladder to get to the bottom of the pitch dark hole.

As soon as Nick saw the dog, he recognized her from a photo on the Lost & Found pets page.

The frightened dog was huddled in a corner, shaking. Who knows how long she's been in there, but he knew she has missing for several days!

It took only a short time to gain her trust to the point Nick could carry her up the ladder and get her out of that scary and horrific confinement!

We have no idea why anyone would do this to a dog and what their intentions were but based on what was found, it was not good.
We are so thankful for the way this was discovered and even better is the fact she is going to be reunited with her family!

Great job Nick! One more dog safe and home.

How could we not....look at this handsome meatball!

Dino is a young adult dog, already neutered, microchipped, up to date in vaccines and heartworm negative.

He is such a ham! Dino has doggie friends, he walks well on leash and is clean in his kennel.

He's a short, stocky boy and he automatically puts a smile on everyones face as he struts his stuff on walks. Lol...he's knows he's handsome boy!

To meet Dino, please submit a MYPETPROFILE at www.poundbuddies.org
Thank you!
