Pound Buddies Pound Buddies is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to finding good homes for homeless and abandoned dogs and cats.

Pound Buddies Animal Shelter & Adoption Center is primarily a volunteer organization that relies on donations and adoption fees for its funding. Registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all donations to Pound Buddies are tax-deductible.

❤️Coco!❤️

At just 8 months old and 40 pounds, Coco is the perfect mix of puppy fun and “I really, really want to make you happy!” 🥹 She is an incredibly eager-to-please girl who is already showing off what a wonderful companion she can be.

Here’s what we love about Coco:

❤️ Super happy girl! Her tail seems to have a permanent case of the wiggles.
🐶 Dog friendly and enjoys having furry friends around.
🥰 Very affectionate — Coco loves her people and isn’t shy about showing it!
🦮 Walks well on a leash and enjoys getting out and exploring.
🧠 Eager to please and ready to learn whatever you’re willing to teach her.
🧼 Keeps her kennel clean — such a good girl!
💉 Spayed and up to date on vaccines.

Coco just makes you smile just by being around her. She’s young, loving, social, and SO ready to have a family of her own. ❤️

✨ Meet Basil! ✨

Some puppies are cute.

And then there’s Basil. 😍

At just 5 months old and 30 pounds, Basil is already turning heads—and we’re pretty sure he’s going to be an absolute showstopper when he grows up! This handsome boy is a Cattle Dog mix with a face you could stare at all day. 🥹

But Basil isn’t just a pretty face. He’s already listening to direction so well, which tells us this smart little guy is going to be an absolute blast to train. He’s sweet, eager to learn, and loves the company of other pups! 🐶❤️

Basil is at that perfect age where he’s ready to soak up everything life has to offer. With the right family, we think this boy is going to grow into an incredible companion.

And honestly… if he’s this handsome at 5 months, we can only imagine what he’s going to look like at 2 years old. 😍

Basil is ready for a family who will keep his brain busy, help him grow into the best dog he can be, and love him for all the years ahead.

Some Animal Care & Control calls require more time and patience than others.

Dogs will clearly communicate their feelings, we just have to listen and respect the warnings or welcome that they are giving us.

This dog clearly let me know that she was very unsure of me and did not feel comfortable with being approached, so I had to adjust and give her space and time to know I was not a threat.

(A few small pieces of hit dog also helped) 🙂

Less than 10 minutes later, the young dog was safely contained and transported back to Pound Buddies .

We are hoping her family comes in to bring her home!

PETER PAUL & CHUNKY MONKEY! Meet two little guys with BIG personalities! ❤️

Peter Paul and Chunky Monkey are both 2½-year-old Miniature Pinschers who have been waiting patiently for their chance at a forever home.

We have to say, their names are just as fun as they are. 😂

Peter Paul weighs in at a petite 11 pounds, while Chunky Monkey is living up to his name at 17 pounds. Dont let their tiny size fool you — once these boys get to know you, their goofy personalities really start to shine!

As Muskegon County’s sole Animal Care and Control municipality, we welcome dogs into our care in many different ways. Unfortunately, some arrive as part of neglect or abuse investigations. Peter Paul and Chunky Monkey were two of five Miniature Pinschers who came to us through a neglect-related court case.

That case has now come to an end, and these two boys are the last two still waiting for their families. 🥺

We would love nothing more than to see them leave the shelter and begin the next chapter of their lives — one filled with patience, kindness, safety, and an abundance of love. ❤️

Peter Paul and Chunky Monkey may have started their story under difficult circumstances, but we know their ending can be so much better.

POUND BUDDIES DOG (FAMILY) OF THE DAY!!

💎 MEET RUBY & HER LITTLE GEMS! ❤️🐾

Some treasures are found in the most unexpected places. And when Ruby and her four puppies arrived at Pound Buddies as “strays,” it quickly became clear that this little family had been through more than they ever should have.

Ruby is just 2 years old and weighs about 50 pounds. She still has some weight to gain, but she’s on her way to becoming the healthy, beautiful girl she deserves to be. Despite not having received the care she needed before coming to us, Ruby has been an amazing mama. ❤️

Now that her babies are 8–9 weeks old, Ruby spends her days doing what moms do best—sitting nearby, watching her babies play, and soaking up every moment with them. 🥹

And those babies? They are quite the collection of gems! 💎

💚 Beryl — female

Their names may be inspired by precious stones, but these four are truly one-of-a-kind. Their personalities are just as unique as their looks, with different coat colors, different ears, and all sorts of little quirks that make each of them completely their own. We’re pretty sure you couldn’t dream up a more beautiful bunch. 😍

✨ Ruby is looking for a family of her own, too. She would thrive with someone willing to give her the extra TLC she deserves—helping her gain the rest of her weight, build her confidence, and finally experience what it feels like to be loved and cared for.

🐾 And the puppies are at that PERFECT age for learning! They’re ready for families who want to help them grow into wonderful adult dogs through training, socialization, patience, and lots (and LOTS) of love.

This family may have arrived here as strays, but they deserve so much more than the life they started with.

They deserve to be someone’s treasure. 💎❤️

POUND BUDDIES DOG OF THE DAY! 🤍

Meet Ivory! And let us just say… this girl is one smart cookie! 🥰

Ivory is 2 years old, weighs 45 pounds, and is the kind of dog who makes everything look easy. She already knows sit, shake, and lay down, AND she can catch treats! 🎾🍪 Clearly, she’s been paying attention. 😉

She walks beautifully on a leash, keeps her kennel clean, and is up to date on her immunizations. One of our favorite things about Ivory is that she’s such a laid-back gal. She’s happy to hang out, spend time with her people, and just enjoy life.

As for her breed… your guess is honestly as good as ours! 😂 Our best guess is a Lab/Husky mix, but we wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some Border Collie in there too. Whatever she is, she’s 100% adorable and 100% deserving of a forever home. ❤️

Smart, easygoing, treat-catching, leash-walking, and cute as can be… what more could you want?

Here at Pound Buddies, we have a deep appreciation for dogs and all the love, laughter, and companionship they bring into our lives.

Having a bad day? Have a sweet, cold nose boop remind you that everything is going to be okay. 🥹🐶

Having a good day? Have a dog who is ready to celebrate right alongside you. ❤️

Dogs have this incredible way of taking an ordinary life and making it feel extraordinary. They make us laugh when we need it most, comfort us without asking questions, and somehow manage to make every day just a little bit better.

For those of us who have dogs, we understand. There’s just something about the way a dog loves you that is impossible to explain until you’ve experienced it. 🐾❤️

🐾 POUND BUDDIES DOG OF THE DAY! 🐾

Meet Genny! 💕

Genny has already done one of the most important jobs a mama can do—she raised a whole litter of puppies right here at the shelter. 🥹❤️ She was an EXCELLENT momma, and now that every one of her puppies is in a home, it’s finally Genny’s turn!

This gorgeous girl is about 1–2 years old, a 70-pound Mastiff mix, and has such a beautiful brindle coat! 😍 She’s gonna be a head turner!

Genny is so sweet with her caretakers. She’s gentle, loves getting pets and affection, and is perfectly content to just hang out and watch the world go by. One of her favorite activities is sitting in the yard and watching people walk past. 👀😂

And for a 70-pound girl, This lady can WALK! 🐕 She does wonderfully on a leash and doesn’t pull at all. Talk about an impressive walking partner!
