🐾🩸 A HEALTHY PET STARTS WITH PREVENTION! 🩸🐾

Did you know that your pet can look perfectly healthy on the outside while something may be going on internally?

That’s one of the reasons we recommend annual bloodwork for both dogs and cats!

Why is routine bloodwork so important?

🐾 Early Detection: Bloodwork can help us identify potential health concerns before your pet starts showing obvious signs of illness.

🩸 Organ Health: It helps us evaluate important organs like the kidneys and liver, as well as blood sugar and other essential body functions.

🐾 A Baseline for Your Pet: Having routine results gives us a way to compare future bloodwork and recognize changes that might otherwise go unnoticed.

🐱 Especially Important for Senior Pets: As our pets get older, their risk for certain health conditions increases. Regular bloodwork can help us monitor age-related changes and catch potential problems earlier.

🐶 They Can’t Tell Us When Something Is Wrong: Our pets are experts at hiding discomfort and illness. Sometimes, bloodwork can reveal clues before we notice changes at home!

Prevention is one of the best ways to protect your pet’s health. While bloodwork can’t detect every illness, it is an important tool in helping us provide the best possible care for your furry family members.

Is your pet due for their annual wellness exam and bloodwork? Give us a call to schedule an appointment! We’d love to help keep your four-legged family members happy and healthy for years to come! 🐾

🐾💙 HAPPY NATIONAL VETERINARY TECHNICIAN WEEK! 💙🐾

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible veterinary technicians who make such a difference every single day! 🩺🐶🐱

Being a vet tech is so much more than giving medications, drawing blood, taking X-rays, and assisting with surgeries. It’s being a comfort to scared pets, a helping hand to our doctors, a voice for patients who can’t speak for themselves, and a source of reassurance for worried pet parents. It’s the long days, the messy moments, the difficult cases, the happy endings, and everything in between. ❤️

Our technicians pour their hearts into caring for your pets, often going above and beyond in ways that happen behind the scenes. Their knowledge, compassion, dedication, and love for what they do are an essential part of what makes our hospital special.

To our amazing veterinary technician team, thank you for the hard work, the heart, the teamwork, and the countless ways you make a difference. We appreciate each and every one of you more than words can say! 🐾💕

Help us celebrate our wonderful vet techs this week! If one of our technicians has made a difference in your pet’s life, we’d love for you to leave them a little love in the comments! 🥰👇

CREEPY CRAWLIES: EAR MITES UNDER THE MICROSCOPE! 🐱🦠

Have you ever wondered what could be hiding inside your cat’s ears? Take a look at this video we captured of ear mites moving under the microscope!

Ear mites (Otodectes cynotis) are tiny parasites that live in the ear canal and are especially common in cats. Although they’re too small to easily see with the naked eye, under the microscope, you can actually watch them move!

🐾 What are the signs of ear mites?
👂 Frequent head shaking or scratching at the ears
🖤 Dark, crumbly discharge that can look like coffee grounds
🔴 Redness or irritation inside the ears
😿 Discomfort or sensitivity around the ears

How do pets get them? Ear mites are highly contagious between cats.

The good news? Ear mites are treatable! Your veterinarian can examine your pet’s ears, confirm the cause, and recommend the appropriate medication. Other ear problems can look similar, so it’s important to get the right diagnosis rather than assume every dirty ear has mites.

Fun fact: These tiny parasites are actually arachnids, related to spiders and ticks!

🎥 Watch closely… can you spot them moving?

Would you have guessed something this tiny could cause so much irritation? Tell us what you think in the comments!
